Q: I’m looking at buying to put a point on wooden broom handles to repair a windbreak. Would this be a suitable tool?

I don't think the tool is large enough to trim down a broom handle especially to a point as it would bottom out. The tool itself is absolutely rubbish not fit for purpose, I sent it back glad I tried it immediately as it would have lived in the tool box until I needed it then found it was too late to return it. Avoid this tool at all costs look elsewhere.

Q: Any chance I can use this for plug socket screws? I believe they are 3.5mm shanks. I regularly have to make correct length screws

as an electrician of 30+ years I have never had any issue just cutting socket screws with my pliers, no deburring required.
