Hoppe's No. 9 Gun Cleaning Aluminum Rod, Universal Pistol

Managed to break off the threaded tip of a nylon jag in my old hoppe's cleaning rod and pretty well screwed it up trying to remove it. This is a good, well made replacement. Not much else to say.

This is pretty well made and sturdy.However, I was aggravated because I spent quite a while trying to find the dimensions of this product to no avail. I wanted it to fit a hard case I keep my cleaning tools in. I did find a mention of its length after a lengthy internet search (8 inches), but that length didn’t take the handle into account, so it still doesn’t fit my 8” case. I’m keeping it because it’s good quality and I couldn’t find a better one that was made of brass or aluminum, but it’s not the solution I was hoping for.

If you don't go gorilla on them, they'll hold up. I very much like the plastic tips; they won't wear or damage the gun in any way. Of course, the same goes for the aluminum shaft. These are ideal for anyone who respects their equipment.

Good size for longer barrel. Like the way it rotates. Good value at this price point.

Hoppe's makes good tools and no exception with this Cleaning Rod. I did find the bearing in the handle to be very dry. It worked much better after holding the handle with the rod pointing straight up and dousing the pivot area with "Super Lube" spray. With the bearing lubed the rod now spins freely - following the barrel rifling. Nice tool. I also use a split rod at the same time (different implement on the end). I find myself re tightening the split rod at least two times during use in contrast to the Hoppe's single rod with no fussing.
