A slight learning curve, nothing that you can't figure out or look up online. They are great radios with a very good distance (for line-of-sight radios). Apparently, you can use existing repeaters and have a greatly expanded range. We use them on the ranch and love them. It is built tough, has a charging cradle, or can plug into a USB. The are affected by topography and structures blocking the signal, but are still greatly effective com tools, especially as inexpensive as these radios are.

The GM21 comes at a very low price, a surprisingly decent build quality for its low price, and it functions just fine on GMRS. In my opinion, it does not function exceptionally well, but it functions just fine for basic use which is perfectly acceptable for the price point. It does not receive weaker signals as well as my better radios, even using the same antenna, but when working in shorter ranges when signal strength isn't a major issue, it works great without issues. It feels good in the hand and the user interface works pretty well. I had no problems programming it using CHIRP once I discovered that you just need to select GM-5RH as the radio in CHIRP since GM21 is not listed. For someone that just wants a functional GMRS radio at a low price, this fits that bill.

The radio is easy to program either from the front panel or by Chirp. The radio is chargeable by way of the desk charger or USB-C. The display is easy to read in full sunlight.I bought this radio as a gift to a friend who has just gotten his GMRS license.Nice radio, nice price.

This radio is easy to program. I use RT Systems for all my radios. It has good audio and the two antennas give you a choice. I really like the USB charging ability. It also has a charging cup.

Good radio for the price. Puts out right around 5w as advertised (4.77). Programming can be confusing, no software directly for this model radio, have to use Chirp under Baofeng GM-5RH. Works good once that was figured out.

I returned this radio for several reasons. First the speaker quality was very poor. At medium volume the sound was very fuzzy and got much worse if volume was increased. Second, the radio transmission power in watts was about 2.5, one half the rated watt power for this unit.I have several other Baofeng transceivers and the speaker quality is much better.

Works great! Very solid hand feel, Easily lets me jump on the repeater, Had no idsue with the mike or RX speaker. FM radio was a nice bonus too, Just wish it came with a Programming cable.
