I bought these to store my grains and scratch for my chickens. I needed something rodents couldn't chew through. These seemed perfect but I almost sent them back because I wasn't strong enough to get the lids to close when I put them on the buckets - they came closed and off in shipping. The lids worked fine when not on the buckets. I struggled and just couldn't get them to close. I had a stronger friend muscle them closed, which was good, but no way was I going to be able to build enough muscle to do that - I'm old(ish). BUT - TaDa! much to my surprise, that first closing must have stretched them out a bit because now they close tightly, but VERY easily! Hope this tip help someone else!

Can size was good, lid doesn't lock in place like the plastic lid, but the plastic lids DO fit this bucket. My only negative about it was i bought this to withstand the Texas climate as the sun and heat destroy the plastic 5g buckets. The outside of the bucket is coated in a gloss paint but the inside is bare metal.. so any moisture that gets inside will start to rust it. I've had it outside about a week and noticed the garden hose i keep in them had rust spots starting where it made contact with the bucket. But other than that it seems like it's gonna be a solid little pail.

I originally ordered a set of 3, which were great. This set of 6 does not appear to be the same product. The top can was dented, which could be due to handling during shipping, but also had a dent on the side. The seam down all six cans are about an inch wide with uneven coloration, nothing like the first set with a smooth silver seam. Photos below of seams on first and second order. In addition the second order was branded with Lancaster Container Company. First order had no branding. So I now have to lug this huge box to UPS. I am so disappointed in the dramatic differences in these two orders.

I’m using it to store food for birds, replacing 5 gallon buckets with wooden tops, which the squirrels had learned to gradually chew through. Not happening this time around. Should last a lifetime.

Took some time to figure out how to get the lid sealed but once I got it adjusted right it’s been working great for storing bird food outside. Squirrels can’t seem to even smell it and haven’t tried to get into it so it seems airtight. Holds about 20lbs of bird seed, great price too!

This metal bucket kept birdseed dry and safe from any critters:) I do keep it in the shed so it stays out of the rain and snow. It works great for me!!
