Kato USA Model Train Products M1 UNITRACK Basic Oval with Kato Power Pack

Can't add much to what the others have said, so I'll add some rookie level insights. 20 years ago I bought an HO scale complete kit from a department store. When it ran, it ran great, but it didn't run for long before I had to start monkeying around with track connectors. There were dead spots all over the track. I finally resorted to soldering wires between the pieces. That fixed that, but then as the track was used, the connectors would not stay flat. The train would hit a high connector and derail. I replaced it all with flextrack, that was no picnic either. Anyway, gave that stuff away 15 years ago, and decided recently to try again with N gauge. This track is like a dream come true. It goes together easy. There are no dead spots, and the connectors are flat. The power pack works very smoothly. And the railer works great. I personally think this kit is worth every penny. When I think of all the time I wasted fiddling around with track 15 years ago, this makes me want to do backflips.

I am an armature hobbyist that recently got all into N and Z scale trains....I could have picked something less expensive!! I went to a train store for track and by far this is the nicest. Well built and goes together smoothly. There is plenty of configurations and lay out ideas. Instructions from this company could have more details. Pleased with purchase. This set is a great starting set.

Great!!! Arrived a day earlier, A-1 shape upon arrival. Price was a bargin, heck Power Pack alone could cost as much as this product was. Assembly easy as 1-2-3. Smooth and quiet operation of train with no lights flickering on locomotive as with a competitors track. Wiring is a no brainer, only one way to plug wires into sockets. Track is set up to run counterclockwise, no chance of train running in opposite direction of control, meaning no having to flip wires around like some competitors controllers. This seems to be a very wise investment for my money. Keep 'em Rolling!!

What can I say, I found out about Kato about 2 months ago, wanted to give it a try and got the Master Set 1. Great quality, and portability. I will definitely be using kato unitrack for a more permanent layout.The master sets and variation sets are a great way to learn about the intricacies of miniature railway operations and how to expand further without getting confused along the way.

When I decided to get into the hobby of model railroading I tried taking the path of least expense. I was soon reminded of the aphorism, "You get what you pay for." Kato products maybe expensive,but in terms of quality they are well worth the price.Once the M1 track has been put together it stays together no matter how long or how fast you run the train. I especially like the design of the transfomer because the operation of the speed control is smooth and easy. The back of the box features illustrations showing what products you will need to expand and alter you layout. This is a smart idea on the part of Kato's marketing department and a convenience for novice railroaders like myself.Intially, I thought that the set had come without instructions. It turns out the instructions were housed in a cardboard drawer underneath the styrofoam packaging. The drawer has proven handy for storing extra train cars. It will hold eight cars inside their plastic cases. From the engineering to the packaging this is a brilliantly designed high quality product that I would recommend to anyone.

I like that this includes track, and required items to run a simple n scale layout. The power transformer for running the train is nice. Like how easy kato track snaps together.

SETTING THIS UP WAS A BREEZE. AT 76, THIS IS MY FIRST ATTEMPT AT MODEL RAILROADING. I WAS ABLE TO MAKE AN IRREGULAR RADIUS OF 38-39 DEGREES INSTEAD OF AN OVAL BY CHANGING THE LOCATION OF SOME TRACKS AND ADDING A COUPLE I HAPPENED TO HAVE. MANY THANKS TO THOSE WHO ANSWER MY QUESTION AS TO HOW TO MAKE THIS INTO A ROUND RATHER THAN AN OVAL DISPLAY FOR MY LIVING ROOM TABLE. THE SET ARRIVED A DAY EARLIER. GRANNY ROBERTS.

KATO makes great products, very accurate in details and simple to assemble, and use. The set I ordered through Amazon arrived on time, but the outer box arrived damaged from careless shipping.If I was a collector, I would be extremely disappointed, but since KATO does a great job of packaging their products carefully, the contents arrived and work as designed. Thanks KATO!!
