I'm back for round two! My first experience with this Professional Leathercraft Awl kit (you know, the one with the black and white thread) was so positive that I decided to double down and get another set. There's a real sense of quality and thoughtful design with this brand. This new kit comes with a similar setup: the awl itself, a variety of needles (coarse, fine, and even a curved one!), and those essential spools of thread (black, white, and brown this time).What stands out is the "Made in USA" durability – these tools feel built to last, not just for a single project. The awl is comfortable to hold, surprisingly light, and the fact that the needles store inside the handle is a stroke of genius for portability. The surgical-grade stainless steel needles are seriously sharp, and the waxed thread is strong enough to tackle tough materials.This review represents my personal opinion and experience with this product. This is as good a quality of awl as another brand that's also been around for a very long time. Compact package with storage space. This product doesn't have a thread tensioner like the other well-known brand, The needles' shaft diameters are different enough between the two awls that they aren't interchangeable between the two stichers. I'd give a slight advantage for this tool because of the greater storage capacity and for the wider variety of needle sizes available. You can use finer needles with this one, if you have a need for more "delicate" work. I own two of both awl stitchers.

I had a couple of pairs of shoes in need of repair. The original stitching broke and that was the only problem. So I went online to see what tools are available. There are plenty of Chinese awls and kits, but all of them did not look right. So I decided to bite the bullet and get this expensive “Manufactured in the USA” kit.The kit includes the awl, 5 needles, 3 spools of white, brown and black thread, wrench and very nice instruction sheet. I was able to fix my shoes in no time without any experience.The needles include two straight #5, two straight #8 and one curved #6. I am not familiar with sewing business, but all needles have .097” shank and are a good fit to the collet. You use the included wrench to tighten the collet and it works very well. There is a threaded cap in the back of the tool. When you remove it, there is a convenient pocket to store all the needles and a wrench. The tool has steel frame, wooden handle and aluminum collet and nut. The overall quality is very good and I am glad I did not try to save money by buying Chinese tools.

I got this because it was made in the USA and it looked like it was designed better than my previous awl Which is foreign made And designed poorly. I threw it away because it jammed continuously. When I bought this awl I liked the design because it didn’t look like it Lent itself to jamming. I was absolutely right I am so glad I got this product from this company I finished a vinyl envelope I needed for my ATV documents and wires. I finished it in record time not one jam and very neat. I enclosed a picture. Very easy to use and the needles are very sharp. The thread which is wonderful is waxed so you might have to wipe off the needle once in a while. However that would just be common sense. I’m going to buy another one because for the price and the needles and thread included it’s absolutely worth it to have the extra. I really can’t say enough good things about this! Highly recommend it.

I went from not sewing a stitch to repairing my favorite boots that the sole was falling off. (Thanks Chinese Ariats)Penetrated the 2 different kinds of rubber completely around 2 size 12 soles without me bending or breaking any part of this tool!Very impressive considering I break everything!

The handle on my favorite leather purse had come apart. I spent days searching for a leather repair place and didn’t find any close to me. I decided to see what was on amazon, as far as leather sewing...I figured I could buy a tool for less than having a shop fix my purse - I was right!I purchased this tool as it looked sturdy and was USA made. I have never worked with repairing or sewing leather before at all. I spent about an hour with this tool, the white cord and my purse and I repaired it myself! 😊(I should also add, I do not have much use of my left hand, which made this a bit more challenging but still doable.)The other neat part is, now I have a tool to repair any other leather that may need help.I am very pleased with this awl the needles and the cord supplied! Thank you for a quality product that is also extremely useful!

This kit is probably the best deal out there, more needles and bobbins included than other providers of this type of kit! Well worth the wait and cost.

I bought this thinking I needed it to sew leather goods. I used it a few times and it works well and I like it, and it seems decent enough quality, but its pretty expensive for what it is, and I learned to saddle stitch instead and I feel its easier and better than what you can do with this. This probably has its purpose for certain projects however and is still a handy item to have I'm sure, so I'm not gonna give it a bad review. I just think it costs about twice as much as it should and have seen almost the exact same thing in a different brand in stores for half the price. But that doesn't mean this is junk either... its as good as or better than anything else.
