Brilliant but pricy. Well worth the money
I bought this for my 5 year old grandson. I wanted something that would grow with him and last. I ummed and aahed for ages because of the price but eventually decided to go for it. It arrived in perfect condition 3 days early! Grand son and Dad immediately started building the picture on the box. The pieces are robust and well made but a little bit fiddly for very small fingers. They like the box for storage and said that the castors are a great bonus. Very pleased.

Fantastic traditional wood building blocks, helping get my kids off their screens.
This is a fantastic set, keeping my kids entertained (being used by 10 - 14 years old but suitable for all ages). Expensive but I suspect this is a kind of kit that we will keep forever.

Hours of fun
This arrived very quickly. The kids (and myself and my husband) have had hours of fun with it.Suitable for all ages and will last forever. The only complaint we've had is from our 4 year old who wants it to be more colourful and has asked if he can colour them in. I said no....you can buy coloured bricks so I might do that. But all in all, brilliant product for all ages!

Surprised but pleased
This was recommended by my ex-primary school teacher daughter. I really expected the 5-year old son of my other daughter to be bored by it, since he's used to the variety of shapes in Lego, but to my amazement we all loved it - granny, 9 year old brother and even 11year old big sister. As for the 5-year old, his imagination was able to soar untrammelled by having specific 'machines' to copy as with Lego, and almost immediately built a "tree", an "aeroplane" and a "gaol".......until the dog joined in!

Great toy (but probably too advanced for a 3-year-old), slightly let down by two issues
My three-year-old son is at the low end of the age range, so he has expressed only a limited interest in building things with Kapla. Instead he prefers for us (his parents) to build things and for him to knock them down. I can't fault the product for that, and I am confident that my son will grow into this toy. The quality of the wooden pieces is impressively high; I expect this toy will last decades.I have deducted one star for a combination of two reasons. First, the instruction booklet is a bit skimpy on instructions (it mainly consists of diagrams without any explanatory text). Second, if you empty the box and then NEATLY pack all 1000 pieces of wood back into the box, then there will be lots of space: the box will end up being about 70% full. However, if you are too busy to pack the wood back in NEATLY and instead just throw the pieces in haphazardly, then the box will be overflowing with wooden pieces, and you won't be able to fit the lid back on. I would have preferred for the box to be slightly bigger to avoid this problem.By the way, I decided to not screw on the caster wheels to the box since I was concerned that the wheels might scratch the wooden floor in our living room. Instead, I stuck a strip of sticky-back Velcro (the soft looping piece of Velcro, rather than the scratchy hook piece) around the bottom perimeter of the box. That acts similarly to felt furniture feet and helps the box to slide across the wooden floor.
