Do not remove the ring!!
I removed the silicon ring to clean it since dirt accumulates there. I have tried many times to place the silicon ring back, but it isn't leakproof anymore. Maybe I shouldn't have removed it.....

Good product but difficult to clean
I was looking for a stainless steel tumbler for traveling when I found this...it is leak proof and compact..main disadvantage I found is that there is a rubber ring beneath the lid where dirt accumulates ...and even if we remove and clean it doesn't get cleaned easily ..thats a major disadvantage..the manufacturer can consider adding a special brush to help with cleaning
