I'm a former chef who still does a lot of home cooking and likes to putter in the kitchen. Also I'm a tool junkie :-)I got this to replace an old spider strainer that I got sick of cleaning. I mostly used it for things like straining stock and there are always bits sticking to those things.This strainer is great improvement. It does everything that the old one did but better. The design lends itself to easy cleaning, as does the fact that it is made of stainless steel.The bamboo handle is nice and beefy and well-connected to the basket with a couple of rivets. It's not a full tang but still quite strong. I used it last week when I made a turkey stock for a gumbo and had to fish out bones and all kinds of stuff from a 20 quart stock pot. It works very well and is quite rigid.Overall I'm very pleased with this item. I hand wash so can't comment on dishwashing.

Tenta has another winner! The 7-inch size is plenty large for pasta for 3-4 people and the wood handles stay cool even when pouring a good volume of boiling water through it. It's much easier to clean that the equivalently-sized mesh one we have. The very best thing about it is that every surface touching food (especially hot food) is metal, so worries about plastics leaching chemicals to food are minimized. I'd like the feet to be a little bigger to hold the bowl part a bit higher from the bottom of the sink, but other than that, it's about perfect.

I bought this to use in a 10" pot, making it way too big. Perfect for deep frying outdoors or when you're using a big pot.

This is handy for straining or scooping from boiling water etc. I liked that ravioli pasta didn’t stick to it. Easy to store upright in utensil jar

I use this for my propane deep fryer. It works great 👍

This is a quality, well made strainer. It works as advertised. HOWEVER, do not put this in the dishwasher because the handle is made of wood and the hot water and harsh detergents of the dishwasher will dry and crack the handle. This happened to one reviewer and they wrongly blamed the product for their mistake.

The wooden handle on the 7" spider is very loose. It is not worth returning because I will not be using the tool that often. However, it would be better to buy another brand.
