I’m not really understanding your question. Are you unscrewing the whole plunger apparatus from the container to fill it? Because it sounds like your taking the plunger apart rather than unscrewing and taking it out of the tank.

Anywhere there is a screw cap, there is most likely an o ring inside, to prevent any leakage.
