Dyson DC33 (blue)

DC 33 older version performs better than new Dyson animal compact ball. I like the old DC33 over the new ball vacuum I purchased a second one while it was still available. Expect DC33 will last as long as our previous Dyson over 10 years of heavy use with two small dog in the house. Build quality of older model is outstanding, heavier plastic were used, and has better suction compared to newer model. Glad I found a new DC33 vacuum was available. Buy one before it's gone.

We had an older model just like it,15 or 20 years old. It still runs and has full power, but the body plastic got broken (old age, maybe) but looked too difficult to bother with replacement parts. A new one was easier (I'm old) and it works just as good as the old oneAnyone want to come get the old one and fix it or cannibalize it?

This is part of a family of DYSON designs with a horrible clutch design. Basically, if you get unlucky, like we did, it will make loud painful noises that would suggest that the machine is going to blow up - literally. I'll spare you a reading of a long review. JUST SAY NO to buying this type of DYSON!

Cons:Canister is small so it needs to be emptied frequently.Does not do well on high plush carpet as it doesn't push forward easily.Long hair tangles in brush roller which was difficult to remove, clear and replace cover.Belt slipped when cleaning brush roller, was difficult getting it put back in place.Pros:Quieter than most vacuums.Definitely picks up deep imbedded dirt from carpet (dirt from dogs feet).Lightweight.Easy to empty canister.Overall:It's okay, not worth the price. I had a hoover that was a bit heavier with a larger canister and cleaned as well but couldn't find a replacement belt.

Great vacuum for the money. Had an older animal model that still worked but wanted to replace it. We have two golden retrievers that shed air like no other. This vacuum needs the brush cleaned more often but is a lot easier/lighter to handle.

Out of the box the brush made the worst noise when putting on the “carpet” setting. We couldn’t return it to amazon because all claims had to be handled by “Dyson.” We call Dyson explaining the problem (in which we had submitted the warranty and it was on file). Of course they told us this problem was NOT covered under the warranty. So we had to take a brand new vacuum cleaner to a vacuum shop and get a new clutch put in. How does this happen? So frustrating.

The suction is great. No bags is great. It is okay for hardwood floors. Very difficult to use even on the shortest carpet as the suction is so powerful it sticks to the carpet. It is also so very very loud! It is difficult to use the attachments because the hose is so stiff and short so it cannot reach very far at all. The accordion style hose pinched me twice so hard that it made me bleed. I recommend you spend the extra money and buy a Miele!
