Q: Does this require a DM?

The game allows everyone during the session to take on the role of Dungeon Master. Everyone will get multiple chances to act as both player and DM during a given game.

Q: How good is the replay? Is it really a fresh start each play?

Pretty good I'd say. There are four boards that connect together and each board has its own deck of 30(?) or so cards. Each board you'll only go through 4-6 cards typically -- so the encounters should be fairly different each time. At the end you fight 1 of 4 different bosses to (you choose which one at the start of the game). And lastly there are 4 characters to choose from at the start, and each character has 2-4 choices you can make to flavor things a little differently.

Q: How does it compare with the d&d adventure system cooperative play board games, including castle raven loft and wrath of ashardalon?

This product is for kids and absolute beginners. It's designed to be easy, light and fun. Big laughs. It's not like the big dungeon boxed sets like Raven Loft, etc.

Fun!

This is a great introduction to the D&D universe! The games/campaigns last around and hour/hour and a half. A really fun family game. My 12 year old loves it and has had friends ask for him to bring it along on visits too. Would recommend.
