As huge fans of the Golden Girls we love love love this book. So much information!The only con as it were is not every episode is presented when it comes to fascinating facts etc.If you are in any way a fan of the show, buy this book immediately!

I am a true blue Golden Girls fan and this is the best collection of Golden Girls facts and episodes I have ever seen. I received it as a Mothers Day gift from my daughter. If you are a fan, this is MUST have! The pages are thick and shiny and the photos in the book are excellent quality. I thought I knew everything there was to know about the Golden Girls but this book gave me even more insight. I am particularly a Rue McClanahan fan. In fact, I have visited her son and best friend, held her Emmy award and I even have some of her prized possessions. I have the plate she stole from Sardi's the night she one her Emmy. (She figured if her picture was now on the wall at Sardi's, the least they could do was give her one of the pewter chargers. So she sorta borrowed it and never returned it! :) I also have a necklace of hers, a picture that hung in her office that was given to me by her best friend, after he found out my license plate reads "In God we Trust: Blanche". I now am battling a rare cancer and her son and best friend sent me the gold angel pin that she wore the entire time she battles breast cancer. It is my prized possession! So you can see why this book is something that I am so thrilled to add to my collection. There are so many Golden Girls fans who will love this book. Every single episode is listed, with all the details about the taping of that particular show. It is a great guide when I need to remember what episode one of my favorite lines came from, or if I want to watch a particular episode but forget what season it aired. If you are fan...BUY THE BOOK!

Before I was even born this show was on. I needed this to be the first book of 2022. Betty White’s death hit me hard. And while I had lots of people checking on me (you would have thought I was related to her) I don’t think anyone understands. I was in the third or fourth grade when I fell in love with this show during winter break. These ladies’ faces and voices I have seen and heard on a daily basis as much as my own family. The Golden Girls go on family trips too. Why Sophia has now been to Disney World with me alone to make her never want to go back. This book made me realize how amazing it was to put this show together. This book had its down points (some drawn out explanations on some things.) This book was really good. These ladies were my friends when I didn’t have friends and that’s why I think I gravitated towards them. I hope this show is always remembered and played.

What Jim Colucci has brought to Golden Girls fans is pretty remarkable... and something we have anxiously awaited since we last saw the four ladies from Miami all together in 1993 (Remember "Golden Palace"?). The photos that were shared, the interviews conducted, the connections made to people from all backgrounds have made this book a must-have companion piece for the series.I read the book in ~26 hours, and was amazed at the memories and details from cast, crew and guest stars about the highlighted episodes in the book. Photos that fans have searched for over 30 years have materialized, and we get a glimpse of what is was really like for those involved in the show.Some highlights:* The guest star memories. They help the reader feel closer to the actual activities taking place from 1985-1992.* The photos. Seeing the set photos, and learning how the house came together - pretty remarkable.* The four stars. Betty White has repeatedly said they were "four points on a compass" that came together at the right time. We get to know Bea Arthur, Rue McClanahan, Estelle Getty and Betty White from a variety of perspectives.The book left me wanting more - to know about Herb Edelman (Stanley Zbornak) and Harold Gould (Miles Webber), to know more about "Golden Palace" and to know more about any interactions the ladies had after the series ended. But these wants are heavily outnumbered by the efforts and insight Colucci brings to the table.Now, bring on the cheesecake and get your copy!

The Golden Girls is my favorite comedy of all time. I can still watch episodes and laugh out loud at jokes I know I've heard before but always seem so fresh when these ladies are onscreen.The beginning of the book details how the show came together, how the actresses were cast and how the show has influenced a number of entertainers to make their own tributes to the show. The rest of the book is organized as an episode by episode synopsis with behind the scenes anecdotes from the actresses, writers, producers and directors on how that particular episode came together. There is a fascinating amount of detail for each episode and it is presented in a very entertaining way. You might be tempted to think that these would read like internet type episode recaps but they really don't. I've taken to reading about an episode as I'm catching Golden Girl reruns and it makes you appreciate the show all the more when you have that insight.I bought the Kindle version of this book but from what I've seen in other reviews, the hardcover version is worth getting.

This book is the ultimate guide to everything Golden Girls!This book explores in detail the birth of the show and its pilot, separate accounts of the girls, tributes, fan art, set design, costumes, and even shout outs from other shows! It also includes a hundred or so pages highlighting the best episodes from each season, complete with an episodes synopsis and interviews from staff, crew, guest celebrities, and sometimes, the girls themselves. This section is where it gets juicy because we hear stories about the girls from the staff and celebrity guests' perspectives, which often includes some heart-warming anecdotes. We also get to hear some of the girls' favourite lines and how they felt about shooting certain episodes.Despite all of that, there are three key things I absolutely adore about this book. The first are the iconic quotes peppered throughout the book. It's fun to turn the page and see quotes like "I can't believe these dumb cops would think anyone would pay money to sleep with you!" and imagine it in the girls' voice (in this case, Sophia's). The second is the design of the book. The dust cover is beautiful and the hardcover underneath has beautiful embellishments and drawings of the girls' side profiles. The third is the acknowledgement of the gay community. This show has so much appeal to the gay community and they have also helped keep the girls' memory alive through drag shows, music, and, in particular, this book.I strongly encourage all fans of this show to purchase this book because you'll want to revisit it and look at it from time to time. it is a great piece to add to my collection of ever-growing Golden Girls merchandise!

Das Buch ist wunderschön gestaltet, mit grossartigen Fotos der verschiedenen Sets der Serie, vom Haus angefangen bis zu diversen "locations", an denen die Serie gespielt hat...wunderbare Infos zu den Darstellern, witzige Background-Infos zu einzelnen Episoden etc..Das Buch ist richtig schön "dick" und informativ und wirklich absolut jeden Cent wert. Für einen Fan der Serie ist das Buch ein Riesenspass ! :)

If you're a fan of the Golden Girls this book is an absolute must! I had a feeling it would arrive and be a total disappointment, not really offering up anything we didn't already know about one of the best sitcoms to have graced our screens. The level of detail this book goes into is immense. Jim Colucci manages to encompass all there is to know into 368 pages and then some! As well as trivia on the show and actors, each episode is covered using commentary, exclusive set photos (truly never seen before) and gold-rated trivia.These days you can just google a TV show and have its production information at your fingertips; This wasn't possible 30 years ago so It's been a long wait. Thank you Jim Colucci for being the Girls' biggest friend!
