Q: Does this fit 2011 Ram 1500 dash speaker?

The only sure way to tell is to take out the old speaker and measure it. If yours is not the size of the BRS35, there are other sizes available.

Q: is it important to use the plastic mounting ring?

Not if the speaker fits without them. I installed them in the front doors in my old Escort without them and they work fine.

Q: Is it a pair of speakers or just one speaker?

Just one at a time. So you really have to order 2 of them if you need a pair. Sold at unit.
