Q: WIll this bird feeder attract large birds such as eagles and falcons?

Unlikely as eagles and falcons are carnivorous. They DO hunt other birds, but usually from the ground.

Q: can cardinels perch on the short pegs?

This feeder is mostly for small birds. Mine attracts American goldfinch, black capped chickadees and red breasted nuthatch's. Some sparrows try to engage but have difficulty with the perch size and holes which I don't mind. I use 3-D Nut N' Berry bird food from Walmart which the small birds love. Feeder stays very busy year around. Tip: Secure the top with rubber bands so the so squirrels can't breach the top. Good Luck. Enjoy. Great feeder.

14.5"L x 5.25"W x 5.25"H best we ever had--metal ports, no tray to clean, goldfinch sit and wait their turn for a port to free up. must have been 100 of them who flew out of nearest trees one day when we walked by the porch from mailbox in front of yard. chickadees wait til they leave.
