This is an outstanding product. Its a traditional style Sami knife, you could use this for every hunting, fishing, or camping related application. Its pretty lightweight for its size and is very strong. It came extremely sharp. The deep scabbard is very secure, robust, and looks really cool. Mine had a little tarnish on the brass and a piece of 0000 steel wool took it off in seconds. A pack of a dozen pieces of steel wool cost about $5. The fittings are solid brass, not brass plated, and not lacquered. This is one of if not the best outdoor knife Ive ever owned.

The Lappland is not only an iconic knife used by the Sami people in Norway, but is also a combination of beauty, strong and practicality. Is a big knife, extremely sharp but doesn't feel heavy. The sheath is a piece of art.

Incredible knife. Identical to one I traded for in Norway back in 1982. Sheath has the exact same graphics which demonstrates the quality maintained in the manufacture of this great knife. The Norwegian Commando I traded with informed me the correct way to hold the knife is with the pinky finger behind the butt cap so your hands doesn't slide up onto the blade. Mora's should be held the same way. This knife is exceptional, worth the money. Heirloom.

Great Camp knife. Very SHARP, and holds its edge. I am looking forward to butchering my deer this fall.

I really love Helle and own several. They are just wonderful. This one though........blade is sharp. Fit is just poor. The first one had gaps on the handle and butt cap. Just terrible. Returned it. The second was even worse Big gap between the blade and handle. Returned and gave up.I use my knives and don’t mind some character. However a $200 knife should be better. I have $30-$50 knives that are better.

I own several Helles, all are extremely nice, and this is no exception. Don't let the price fool you.This one is like a mini machete- a good medium-large general camp knife

I have wanted this specific knife since I saw it in a hardware store almost 15 years ago. I finally splurged on one to use as a yard/camp knife and I'm pretty happy with it! It arrived loosely packaged in a generic box, but undamaged. It feels GREAT in the hand, truly a mini-machete. It's really, really pretty. So much so that its almost a shame to use it and get it dirty! The birch handle is a great fit for my large hands and its balance point is perfect for chopping and slicing. Everything locks up tight and the rat-tail tang is reinforced by the brass bolster. I don't feel worried about the tang snapping. It arrived with a hair-shaving edge and I'm truly impressed that Helle got stainless steel this sharp – I was a little worried about the metal choice. Another interesting point is that the knife and sheathe smell fantastic. Could be the leather or the wooden handle but it was a nice surprise!My only gripe is that for a ~200 dollar knife there are a few notable fit and finish issues. The bevel on my brass pommel is ground very unevenly, ranging from a few mm to flush with the wood of the handle. Also on the brass bolster at the other end of the handle, there is a sharp snag of metal where the blade slot was milled out. The scandi grind on the blade itself is not the most symmetrical thing I've ever seen either. Not a huge deal and none of these affect the functionality of the knife, just a little disappointing. At this price point, and with the craftsmanship on display, I'd expect more rigid QC. Another minor quibble is the obviously subpar leather used for the sheath, it's rubbery and rigid and I doubt it'll ever break in to a nice supple texture. "Genuine leather" usually means the cheapest leather one can source and use that still comes from an animal. Its rigidity does ding its effectiveness as a sheath For the price, I would expect a little nicer leather. Ka-bars are almost half the price and come with a lovely full grain leather sheath that wears in awesome. Again, just a minor nitpick.Overall I'm happy with it and can absolutely recommend it for medium-duty field work. I plan to EDC it in my backpack as my "this is a knoife" knife. Minor finishing issues aside, the Lappland is a sturdy, pretty beast.
