Q: This is a stupid quiestion but no one at Autozone or OReilly's could answer it.. Is the spray really yellow (they said Yes) and does that stain?

Not a stupid ? ... only stupid answers, and Yes it is YELLOW ... it works by applying it to both sides of the surface, letting it sit for about 4 minutes, then join both surfaces. It is designed for bonding vinyl tops, heavyweightheadliners and hood silencing pads. It will stain through thin materials. 3M General Adhesive (Part #08088) is used for thin materials and is advertised not to stain as it is clear.

They list a coverage sq ft but I would suggest at least 2cans.

No, unless there is a significant overlap of material. You might try a heavy duty cloth tape.
