Yes，the screw shaft is uniform so the thickness is about the same，looks great after finished

I can't get it to work. What is the lever for? I screw on the handle and turn it, but how do you fit in the potato.

Lever releases it so it will go to the front where blade is. The prong has a hole in center that levels the shishka Bob stick that goes through a potatoes and out the front. It works better to have potatoes peeled. Also a metal shishka Bob stick is better to use on this than a wooden one. Hope this helps directions are not that great .
