It's easy and it's nice.
Hehehe this thing is huge! Not in a bad way though, when I ordered it I ordered it by the duct size not the vent face so I was quite amused at the difference when compared to the standard 4" louvered vent hood. Also I found it easy to roll up the duct and fit it in, even though I purchased a used one and it was shaped like an egg when rolled once it was fitted into the hood it took on a nicer circular shape. So, something I think is important to note. The complaints regarding the duct being hard to fold and not have a seal at the hood are ridiculous in my opinion. Here's why:I have a 4" model that came from the local hardware store a few years back. It too came as a sheet of aluminum to roll up and it too has holes for it to snap into place, and like the 6" big boy I'm upgrading to, it lacks a seal at the hood. These things are only problematic for people who are too afraid to or lack the knowledge to solve on their own. It is my opinion that without the pre-requisites of the complainers it offers more adaptability to the task of installation. Which I appreciate! Anyway I presume used means I bought one returned by somebody too inept to use it. Pictures show how 4" and 6" clip into hood the same.

Worked Well
We have a R2D2 Room air conditioner in our summer trailer. The windows aren't conducive to the vent system. My husband installed this into the wall and it works very well. Easy to install.

Works!
First, the packaging sucks. The metal tube was bent and being so, it made it much more interesting to bend into shape and lock into itself. I HIGHLY recommend gloves for this step as the edges of the metal are sharp. The fitment into the plastic grill was a little tight, but I believe this as the metal was pre-bent by bad packaging. I did not buy this for a range, oven or dryer but a exhaust port for my inline exhaust fan with my fiber laser.

Very nice!
I purchased this item because I could not find a 6" vent cover at any of the local big box stores (4" is the norm, but I purchased a very large vent fan that requires a 6" duct). It works exactly as a vent cover should, and installation was a breeze. I read other reviews that complained about the installation of the metal duct (which comes as a flat metal sheet), but I did not have any issues putting this duct piece together and fitting it into the plastic housing (the entire task took less than a minute). I did add some stainless steel wire mesh to the vent cover since I was concerned about bugs making it past the louvers while the vent fan was turned on, but this was a purely personal choice.

Cheap, but works - for now
Honestly if this lasts three years on the exterior of my home it'll be worth it. At five years I'll update and apologize for ever doubting the sturdiness of this device. Gotta say: anyone producing mixed-metal-and-plastic contraptions could *easily* out-do this thin and weak setup with a high-quality part, charge twice as much - and make 3x the profit margin. Could more or less guarantee this product *all-in* costs about $4 to make per unit. It's that cheap. But it works. For how long it the question...

for portable AC exhaust
I am using it for a portable A/C exhaust. Works so far, as intended. On my second year of owning it.

Through wall vent using on portable Air Conditioner, works great.
Works great on a portable air conditioner (Haier HPC12XHR 12000/11000 BTU Cooling Portable Air Conditioner). The exhaust hose from the AC unit fits loosely in the metal tube for this vent and is easily snugged down with a tie wrap or 6" hose clamp. The plastic is thicker than most of the vents I looked at and holds paint designed for exterior plastic very well. Because I am using this in an environment with birds, mice and other things which may try to crawl inside through the louvers the plastic mesh behind the louvers is going to work great. For the price I couldn't find anything else that suited my needs. Highly recommend for anyone with a similar application.
