Great Tones, Great Amp!
Wow! This amp performs bigger and better than I expected! I'm really amazed at the responsiveness of all the settings and the wide variation of tones I am able to get out of this amp. I really appreciate all the reviews everyone posted: you were all right! Good job, Vox! Highly recommend. The item arrived well packaged and without a scratch.

so consider that when I say this is the best sounding amp I have ever owned
Admittedly, I'm in the honeymoon phase with this amp, so consider that when I say this is the best sounding amp I have ever owned. I've owned a pretty wide variety of amps (boutique, solid state, tube, modeling amps, etc.). The AC10 is pretty basic on features - single channel, no effects loop, digital reverb, no tremolo. So everything goes into the front end (pay attention to pedal order) and you need pedals to get a lot of tones you might get from other Vox offerings. The AC10 is all about blending the gain, volume and tone. Don't get me wrong, it's tough to get a bad sound out of it, but the classic rock/punk drive that is just majestic is available in spades. Sparkling highs are also right there too.Regarding lack of features, I use a Strymon Flint (Reverb/Tremolo) and some fuzz and OD pedals (Tubescreamer, Bluesdriver). It takes pedals well and just like any amp, if you try to use the wrong pedals with the wrong settings, you can get mixed results. I've also read that you MUST use an effects loop for modulation and delays to get good sounds. That is simply untrue. I also use a Strymon Mobius, DiG and MXR Carbon Copy to great effect. The reason I've not had a Vox is the great unknown in a new amp. I've had reliability issues. Noise, hum, blown transformers, whatever. I had an AC15 and it sounded terrific, but it just wasn't reliable and I moved on to an Orange amp as my go to. Hopefully this one lasts, because it hits every tone I'm looking for.

Great versatile amp for practice or gigging!
As a lover of 60's British invasion music, I have two other Vox amps (AC-30 and AC-15), both of which sound great but are too heavy to lug around now that I'm much older than I was when I bought them! I was looking for an amp that could capture that same Vox sound but with more portability; i.e., much lighter! This amp weighs less than half of the AC-15, and it fits the bill perfectly. It cuts back on some of the features (no built in tremelo, and digital vice analog reverb) but it's still a great buy for the money, especially if you find a used in great condition like the one I found on Amazon. I haven't owned and used the amp long enough to comment on it's reliability, but would still highly recommend it. I'd also recommend that, if you're thinking of getting one, try checking out the many video demos of the amp on YouTube so you can hear and learn more about it before committing to buying one- they definitely helped me in my decision.

I really like this gig-worthy amp
I really like this gig-worthy amp. I used to lug around a VOX AC-30 but the weight of the thing became unbearable as I got older. I play in a band without drums that gigs at smaller venues. This amp has worked great on its own for these gigs. (the rest of the band sings and plays through a Bose L-1 and a bass amp). And if needed for a bigger gig it can be mic'ed and run through a "p.a." It retains the classic Vox top boost tone with 1/2 the weight of the AC-15 and about 1/3 the weight of the AC-30. The AC-10 weighs about 25 lbs. It lacks the excellent tremolo that I used once in awhile on my AC-30. It doesn't have normal and top boost inputs like the AC-30 either. It has a single input and you get top boost tone by cranking up the gain. With gain reduced you get a good clean tone.

Great amp. Significant improvement vs the AC4.
I got a special edition ac4 with the 12 inch speaker and after 2 years I just couldn’t get along with it. Bought this used and it’s exactly what I wanted originally. Obviously more clean headroom but the big difference is the bass. This deserves the AC name. Definitely the top boost sound. The 4 is fine too if you want something a lot quieter. This is in a different league though. Highly recommend a little extra for this. The digital verb is fine too. No complaints. Was worried about the 10in speaker but other reviews have been right - it’s he right speaker for the amp. I have a 12in Weber blue dog in a bigger cab and it is just barely better than the stock 10in that came in it.

Bought Used like new from Alto Music (?) in Upstate NY for 400.
OK. The amp IS five stars. That the music store said it was "like new" when they'd already been changing tubes around...come on. The reverb went crazy, the tolex got to bouncing, called ghoastbusters, and there was no tracking for a while. OTHER than that. It's freaking glorious. Put a vintage RAT in front of it, it's intense. Different guitar? Whole new thing. It also weighs less than a Fender Princeton and once you put new tubes in, is a lot less fussy. I've an old danelecro tremelo pedal. awesome. If you've thinking about getting a Vox, like DON'T buy something digital. Put the money towards one of these or something else with tubes/valves. Peace, J.Addendum: A while back I bought a Celestion Blue at half price. Made a Cab. Put the AC10 (or a Princeton) through the Blue and you're...Golden-Blue? Moreover, it sounds incredible. There are 10" non-celestion "blue" speakers (can't remember who makes them" you could put in the amp itself. Then again, all the other low what amps you have...wouldn't get the blues :) Peace n Love, J.

Great amp but,
This is not the amp of the old days when the Beatles cranked them up. This is a whole new thing that leaves too many loose ends. First I have a AC 30 made in England and this amp is not a little brother or even a third cousin. This is 100% Chinese with mistakes, they put the wrong speaker in this 10 watt amp. They put the 12" in a 4 watt amp? The new owners of Vox don't have a clue when it comes to speakers. When you turn a tube amp up and push it! You should get that sweet spot. This does not have one. I looked in the back and felt it was designed by committee. I look at it again when they put out a special model or a we tried again model.
