Beautiful illustrations and great version of traditional story
Lovely version of the Cinderella story with beautiful illustrations. The children really enjoyed listening to this story and discussing the similarities and differences to Cinderella. The illustrations are enchanting and can be used as a writing stimulus on their own.

A magical read!
I absolutely love Cinderella of the Nile - an extremely unique, beautiful adaptation of the infamous Cinderella story. This wonderful tale is based on the earliest version of Cinderella, situated in Egypt. Beverley Naidoo constructs a wonderful story, bringing in many fairytale elements that every child will be familiar with. But the story takes exciting turns, as Beverley allows our heroine to meet important historical figures like Aesop and eventually the powerful pharaoh. The illustrations by Marjan Vafaeian are stunning! Her adaptation is extremely colorful, engaging and a wonder to behold. The vibrant images transport the reader to another world - full of danger, promise, and adventure. Children will really love this fantastically retold tale!I really enjoyed reading this picture book - it's one of my personal favorites.

Not very child-friendly
Taught this to our Y3/4s as part of the Ancient Egyptians topic, and it was too abstract - not really child friendly. It jumps about quite a bit and I wasn't a fan of the bulging eyed pictures.Several male characters randomly appeared to be drawn with breasts. You'll be better off getting The Egyptian Cinderella - far better story all around
