Good quality and overall great value! Having celiacs makes it hard to find good quality seeds/grains/nuts in bulk like this, so really glad Anthony’s is a safe gluten free option to get in bulk!

(2-8-23: I noticed someone referenced my review but they got several things incorrect about what I said here, and I realized I needed to clarify something.Gluten free certifed products do not ever guarantee that products are completely gluten free. They just guarantee to a certain threshold that the product is gluten free. For some folks that works. For our family that doesn't because my family reacts to any amount of gluten. This review is for people who are extremely reactive to gluten.So I want to emphasize that Anthony's has done absolutely nothing wrong. They do not need to change their labeling or work harder on their product safety. Our family safely uses many of their products, and we have for years, but things like flaxseed should never be consumed without testing it yourself if you are very sensitive to gluten because the process makes it very susceptible to cross-contamination. Hope that helps clarify!Also, as a household with extreme gluten sensitivity these are the Anthony's products we use as staples and have for years with no reactions. We feel comfortable not testing these for each bag. I noticed some people had posted reviews that they were still having gluten reactions to this flaxseed meal even though it is gluten free certifed. That has happened to us with some gluten free certifed products too.I love this flaxseed meal and tried it out first. Before introducing it into my family's diet I tested it with a Glutentox at home test kit which tests for higher sensitivity then they do for the gluten free certifed testing. The test showed it was gluten free. If this flaxseed meal works for them in their diet, I will simply test each bag we get upon opening to make sure it's safe. Thank goodness it's a large amount! It's definitely worth the work though because it is delicious, and my family is envious of my morning flaxseed muffins. I can't wait to make them some too!Update 6-5-22: I tested our new bag with the Glutentox at home testing kit. I was testing for the presence of gluten in 5ppm. The gluten free certified testing tests for 20ppm. I did find traces of gluten that would not be caught by the gluten free certifed process. I ordered a new bag to see if we can get another one that has no traces. I will use this one since I have no auto-immune issues with gluten.My family had no problems with that first bag that tested free of gluten. I am hoping we can get more bags like that.8-23-22: We had multiple bags of Anthony's test positive for gluten, so we switched over to Spectrum. None of their bags have ever tested positive for gluten, and I have tested 8 bags so far. Hope this helps. If you are very sensitive to gluten, I would advise against using Anthony's flaxseed meal.

This bag of flax seed is finely ground and is a great supplement for introducing fiber to your diet.

I received a manufacturing defect on my order of flaxseed meal. the bag must have been crooked when it went through the sealer. I ordered it again, and received the same defect. You can see the lot numbers on the first picture. Amazon has gone good for both bags, but now I have to wait to reorder until someone goes to the warehouse to remove the defective product. And I'm stuck with 5lb of unusable product. I tried to contact Anthony's privately, but Amazon doesn't allow messages. This is (normally) a great product compared to other ground flaxseed I've had, and I will be getting more.

Fine meal, but not powdery fine like flour. I use it for GF baking blends.

Flax should have a fairly strong taste when it's fresh. This was definitely fresh with a great sell-by date. I keep the bag refrigerated to preserve the omega oils. Flax omega oils don't contain the toxins found in fish-sourced omega oils. A tablespoon in my oatmeal helps regularity. And, flax makes a great vegan egg substitute in baking and cooking. It adds a nutty taste to home-made seitan. It can also thicken sauces and vegan gravies. Have been using Anthony's products for years including the wheat gluten, TVP, and nutritional yeast. Amazon prices are comparable to the 'big box' stores but the products are fresher.

Very convenient. Can be use in milk shakes, tofu meat balls soup and many more. In our house it is always in stock.
