Excellent throwing spear
Excellent throwing spear. Works well with the Windless mild steel flat ended butt cap replica.

Top quality, not sharp, but can be sharpened
Not sure about all the negative reviews. For a spear head, this is a beauty, well crafted. The hollow grind is nearly perfect. They don't make it sharp for legal reasons. Many States laws prohibit double edged blades. If you want it sharp, just find some videos on how to do it. the steel in the head is thick, it will sharpen fine.

Chinese Viking Spear Head
Viking spear head made in China. Substandard manufacturing. Installing the spear heads hollow section downward to attach the head to shaft securely causes the vertical line on the heads hollow section opening up approximately 1/4". Result is inadequate securing to shaft. Note: could grind wood shaft more but this would not address manufacturing issue. The vertical line is suspected as being a result of the casting technique used to make the head.To more adequately secure the spear head, glued the head to the shaft, then two circular clamps to tighten the head to shaft and close the 1/4" gap (clamps removed after SS bolt in next step installed), drill 3/16" hole through the spear head and shaft & insert a stainless steel bolt to secure head permanently. Not field tested to date but would not throw this spear into a hard material such as wood. Head durability questionable. Less dense materials only such as straw bales.Product over priced at $36.00.

Very pretty
I don't leave many reviews but this spear head is beautiful, feels very sturdy, it is a throwing spear so only the point is sharp as expected

This is a cheap child's toy!
I purchased this, paid for shipping thinking it was real, and quality made, I was surprised to see that it was cheaply made, and equivilent to a toy, for looks only. I had to pay for shipping back to the seller for a refund as well. Do not buy this product unless you want it to be for a costume party.

Better than other reviews suggest
The spear head I received is well made. I wanted a functional, sharp weapon that is historically accurate. This spear head was a good starting point for that project. It is made of fairly hard steel, and the decorative socket is plated with some kind of silver alloy. The point is sharp. but the edges are radiused and for my purposes needed touching up. Holes needed to be drilled for riveting to the shaft. But the end result was a reasonably accurate viking age spear. There is no question that it needs fitting and some modification. I find it very solidly made, and the butted section of the socket was welded seamlessly and is unlikely to separate. I find it hard to believe that the reviewers who felt that this is flimsy and toy-like received the same item that I did.
