Sea Story (Brambly Hedge)

The "Brambly Hedge" picture book book series by Jill Barklem, is for children & adults alike. I have collected the entire series (total of 8 tiny books) that she first published in1980's and then recently in 2014, 2017 & 2020. I also have the one larger earlier book that contains all the 4 seasons along with Jill Barklem's biography complete with a sweet photo of her as a little girl in England and several of her illustration sketches. These wonderfully illustrated stories of Field MIce and their woodland creature neighbors, are a delight to read. Upon receiving her first book in the 1980's, it has been my tradition to read each of the stories that coincide with one of her story's seasons. JIll Barklem, who passed away in 2017, was such an imaginative illustrator and author. I do believe she now is at play with her friends within the Brambly Hedge.

Read to my kids now reading to my granbdkids! Very convenient that Amazon sells the series! Years ago had to go to Library to read, if available.

Cuuuute story for my kids! Made a great addition to my coffee table decor

This is a great story, although I wish it was contained in a larger book to enhance the detailed illustrations. It is a mice adventure with the children sailing to down the river to sea to visit relatives, who harvest salt from the sea water. Brambley Hedge is running out of salt and the children respond to the task.

Jill Barklem continues her wonderful saga of the tree mice, this time spreading their adventures a little further from home. It brings the excitementof a new world ready to explore for those brave enough to dare.

If you want to " judge a book by its cover", pick up any of Jill Barklem's Brambly Hedge stories and you'll find the text to be as mesmerizing as the watercolor pictures. Each one is a masterpiece!

I was so excited to see a new brambly hedge story. this did not disappoint me. it is a beautiful story with the same beautiful pictures as the previous ones.
