Great so far
I bought two 10” single ply heads to replace the original Roland 2 ply heads that separated from their hoops on a 15 year old TD-20 kit. (I also happened to replace the foam cones at the same time.) The heads look great, and so far play great without any problems or changes to trigger settings. I gave them 4 stars only because I am not sure how durable the mesh heads are, but they are the Remo brand, which is one of the best IMO. The price is great too compared to Roland OEM high-priced heads. You can find info online about the differences in the number of ply’s and the feel. I don’t detect any meaningful difference in feel or sensitivity with the other 2 ply heads on the kit, so I am happy as a clam.

You’ll never disturb neighbors again when drumming
These drumheads are amazing! is the same feel than the regular ones, but too much quieter, no more pillows in the bd, you can practice using your usual punch, as loud as it could be, and it will be barely heard by people in the same place, I absolutely recommended them!!!

Does the trick
I replaced all of the stock heads on my toddler’s new drum set so he wouldn’t drive us crazy. The head is a lot quieter than I thought it would be. It feels great while playing too.

Things to consider when purchasing this...
I tried the Aquarian SPK-22 for sound reduction. I did not like the fact that it was too thick (about 1.5") and you would have to move your pedal mount on the rim back as far as possible to keep your beater angle proper. The muffle was also too loud. At first this Remo Silent Stroke was actually too quiet. There are a couple of tricks you can try when using this head- If you play with a double pedal this head comes with a small beater pad sticker that will only allow for one single beater. It's too small to accommodate the beater spread for a double pedal. I tried to use a new Aquarian double kick pad sticker and it would not stick to the mesh head surface. I ordered a Remo Double Falam Slam pad and it did stick quite well to the head. It also adds a "tick" and tone to this head which helped me to hear it better. Also, put a comforter blanket and pillow in the bass drum before putting the head on. It supports the backside of the head and takes away the spongy feel you get without it. I'm using Silent Strokes on all my drums and triggering them through a Roland TD-20 module. You can't trigger your kick drum when using the Aquarian SPK-22.I would have given this 5 stars had Remo included a Double Falam Slam pad.

USE WTIH REMO MUFFLE HEADS
Did not fit my PDP 18" floor tom.All other sizes fit true from 8" 10" 12" 13" 14" 16" 22"NOTE: If you are trying to lower the volume or silence your drum kit, these heads will work and will out perform all other competitors on durability and playability. Strong mesh fabric unlike competitors thin "nylon pantyhose" fabric. Also retains a very accurate "real feel" playability while also providing the ability to tune up or down for more tonal control.HOWEVER!!!.... if you find these heads to be "too silent" which I likened them to striking a pillow of air.. ALL IS NOT LOST..MY SUGGESTION: Get a set or pair of the REMO MUFFLE HEADS and place these directly on top of your shell and underneath the REMO SILENTSTROKE mesh heads. This produces a micro batter / muffle just under the mesh head which traps air rebound and will retain your drum shells natural character. I discovered this trick after I found the silentstroke heads to be too silent and more like a practice pad which lost all the character of my drum shells. I used anything and everything from duct tape to drum patches trying to baffle the heads just enough to bring back some of the tonal acoustic sound of my drum shells but at the same time reducing the volume. If you find these silent stroke heads alone are too quiet and you use that natural acoustic response then try placing the Remo Muffle heads underneath the silentstroke heads and watch your drums come to life once again.. Worked great for me TRY IT!!FYI:I also use EVANS black hydraulic heads for my resonant heads and batter heads when playing loud.. these heads are great for troublesome drums.I also prefer my heads to be black so I used a sharpie marker MAGNUM (waterproof) marker in black and colorado both sides of the mesh heads to black them out.. Works perfect!!!I HOPE THIS HELPED ANYONE BEFORE PURCHASING AND OR ANYONE WHO FEELS THESE HEADS ARE TOO SILENT.

Excellent for practice or low volume playing
In the 5 decades I have been playing drums these heads are one of the most innovative additions to the craft. I have used electronic drums in the past but there is a vast difference in playability, feel, and feedback when between an electronic kit and an acoustic kit. These heads combined with low volume cymbals, allow percussionists (Drummers) to take up their acoustic kit and keep their Grooves and Chops fresh with the tactical feel and feed back of regular drum heads at 10-20 percent of the volume. These heads don't tune the same as normal batter resonant heads. The resonant heads will need to be higher tension in order to vibrate easier. The batter (mesh) head will then need to be tuned for maximum drum resonance. This needs to be done is small increments (1/8 turn or less) as one can easily by pass the spot at which the head provides the most resonance and wind up with a choked sound. Start with 1/2 turn of the drum key after all the lugs first snug against the rim by hand. Afterword tighten no more than 1/8th turn at a time, listening for that sweet spot of maximum resonance. The snare head is the only problem with the mesh head approach, however that can be resolved with some fine tuning.I use these heads for daily practice, they keep me tuned up muscle as well as eye hand coordination and mental acuity related to the result of my playing ability. Since one can hear the sticks hitting the head, there is a feed back to the user where there might be weakness in ones playing approach.Get some.... Try them .... enjoy them ..... you will be amazed..... You can play your kit without disturbing the neighbors or the family..... they will love it and so will you.

Amazing for practice - Fully recommend
The media could not be loaded. Main pro: A lot quieter and it means I can practice any time of the day. I live in a town house and so I’ve replaced my standard heads with these. I can be playing in the spare bedroom with the door closed and my partner in the next room won’t hear a thing.Sound: You get quite a muted sound, meaning they’re only really fit for practice. They are loud enough for you to have a jam session with a guitar player (although they won’t have their amp as loud as they’re used to)Cons: Your sticks will rebound a lot more than on standard heads, so it will take you a minute or two to adjust back to a regular setup.Recommendation: Buy these if you want an affordable way to turn your kit into one you can practice anytime. Combine them with Zildjian L80s and you’ll have yourself a great setup. They’re a lot cheaper than the rival Aquarian SuperHeads.

Much better than the Roland alternative
I've attached a photo to compare two hours of use from a Remo head to a Roland one. I played the exact same songs at the same velocity (I am a hard hitter)The Roland certainly looks nicer and tougher but the first layer always breaks very quickly. For half the price, the remo one is a no brainer really as it's also tougher.

Great product
Does a great job lowering volume of your acoustic kit and much better than using rubber pads. I’ve seen videos where you can also use these for reso head to lower volume even more.I recommend tuning as loose as possible to try and get the closest feel to a real head. Even then it’s still not quite the same but still worth it for practice. I still prefer a practice pad for rudiments.

I’ve tried various mesh heads from super cheap to this end (but not yet tried Roland heads). These heads are very nice.

Fantastic solution for low noise practice
Moved to a house over an year ago and decided to get an acoustic drum kit to substitute my electronic one.Bought Remo SilentStroke heads and Zildjian L80 cymbals pack. They work great. Never had any complains from the neighbours and it's 10 times better than playing in a cheap electronic kit
