This Made a First Class True NAS System
I needed powerful server at my house, because I love to watch my movies and recorded TV shows anytime or any where I want. I Started small with the cheapest synology unit available just to see how it would work using plex. soon my mother wanted access to my library and we combined our movie and TV libraries. This first system could not keep up So I bought a synology 920+ and upgraded the RAM to the highest level it could handle. This was better still but the unit could not keep up with the demands placed on it, as family and friends accessed the NAS. I also upgraded the internet service to 1Gb up and 1Gb download to accomodate the traffic. I had played with Freenas before covid and had a small nas at the time, unforunatly I had to use this system for parts during this time to fix my parents computer. Last July I purchased this old but still powerful computer to upgrade my NAS, this thing is a beast it handles everybody at once NO LAG!!! and dosen't even break a sweat. The best part being "it was Cheaper than my 920+ as I paid just under $300 at the time. I installed larger hard drives than before and all my movies, music, Tv showes, and pictures are all available anywhere I want them.

Classic Rig Done Right
These HP Z workstations are a work of art. Over 10 years old and provide amazing performance. Many proprietary posts, but their design and engineering is top notch. Upgradable with limitations. I received this HP Z630 workstation in great condition and well packaged for the trip. Included hdd with bootable window 10 pro keyboard and mouse. Description didn't say it included those perks. Added decent GPU , SSD, and monitor and I'm using a great home lab for virtualization and AI tinkering.

Expensive Workstation that is Affordable
I already owned a Z620 before and this is one impressive workstation computer so naturally I wanted a second one to replace a failing desktop computer. The one I received Stallion Tek was as clean and as pristine as the first one I had bought from another vendor. The word on the street is they are seeing a second life after being used as servers for Facebook. These are big, powerful machines that cost ten times more when new and the dual processor and multiple-cores combined with the copious ECC memory make them ideal for video (Adobe After Effects is a killer) and 3D rendering such as Poser or Daz3D or as a gaming machine. They are modular and the system construction is very robust reminding me of the old Apple G4's in their quality build. Sadly, I do not see a successful Hackintosh build for them, anything to replace those Apple trash cans for video editing. That said, I am fine with using Windows 10 Pro and had an old license lying around that I repurposed for this workstation. Also, since they are older you are not installing NVMe without some serious BIOS gyrations. When you install your SSDs you can use these caddys to fit in the drive bays: B00F3QFKNS. For gamers adding your video card such as a 1070 or 1080 is no problem, the power connectors are tied down but the HP graphics 6-pin power connector is a bit more robust and a dual card install requires a special connector. There are plenty of threads on this issue online and some people even try to install three cards. The best part is the copious fans are very quiet. The only downside to these boxes is that the dual Xeons don’t exactly sip electricity when they are going full bore and they do throw off heat! Frankly, once you run a real workstation you’ll find it hard to go back to a consumer grade desktop.

Great system, but runs hot, plan accordingly.
I bought 2 of these systems and they really did well for the money. I like the lack of HDD, so I don't have to waste money on drives or an OS I don't want. It takes 3 drives nicely and they are surprisingly easy to put in. Anything after that, buy a proper mounting kit. The only real downside to this system is that it runs pretty hot. So, plan accordingly.

Aug. 2023: Very inexpensive workstation for ML/AI
The build was relatively easy and inexpensive. Results on par with: - AMD EPYC 7272 12-Core - Intel Core i7-7900X - Intel Core i9-9900K SysBench Multicore CPU speed: events per second: 21,359 with 32 CPU threads, 96GB DDR3, and NVidia 3060 12 GB running 2560x1440 displays - The build started with a PANIC, I could not boot the computer to BIOS - nothing was showing on the screen. - I ripped the computer apart, took out 1 of the 2 processors (very easy to do), and removed all, but one DDR3 memory module. Restarted and Nothing. - I took the BIOS (coin) battery and pressed the memory reset. Restarted and Nothing. - I ordered a new graphic card NVidia 3060 12GB VRAM for $309 and waited 2 days. Restarted and WORKED fine. The original NVidia Quatro card did not work, I should have taken a star, or two, away for that, but I do not care. I needed more CUDA cores and more VRAM, anyway. - Ordered and installed a 2.5-inch Samsung SSD 1T for $59 and a 2.5-inch to 3.5-inch holder for $7, I have a spare room for 2 more. - Installed Ubuntu 23 from a USB drive. - Ordered WiFi PCIe card for $39. Worked immediately. - Everything works perfectly so far, very quiet, and there was NO need to install any DRIVERS!!!. Next update: - Update CUDA drivers before I start programming - Update BIOS if I need to - buy a PCIe card for M.2 SSD (much faster than SATA SSD) and move OS there I am happy with the result.

Defective Machine_On Arrival _Error 942-Memory Training Error
Couple of things - It's missing one hard drive caddy.. Second it has Radeon card and not NVidia. Third, once I turn the machine on , it gives an error 942-Memory Training Error. Dimm1 on CPU1 experienced an error during training (code 301C). If I remove the stick from the machine then it works fine however then it's 88GB RAM and not 96GB. If I put the memory to another empty DIMM slot then error moves to the DIMM slot. ---------------------------

A beast still wrapped in Mylar from the factory - Undoubtebly the best value around - highly recommended.

Runs well just put some storage and update the Bios and it will run well. The fan steppings don't ramp up too often so it's pretty quiet. Happy with the purchase.

Sí funciona y cumple con las especificaciones de CPU pero me faltó un caddy para instalar el disco duro y la tarjeta de video es ati en vez de nvidia. El vendedor no me ha respondido sobre si me enviará el caddy faltante.
