Code Geass: Lelouch of Rebellion - Movie Trilogy [Blu-ray]

Great Blu Ray collection of the three compilation movies based off of the Code Geass series. No complaints with it to be honest. Steel book case looks incredible, and the movies themselves were great. Most of the scenes were taken from the anime, but there were some new ones put in there to explain some things or cut down run time. There were a few scenes that were gone entirely, but nothing too important I guess. I still loved it 100%! Something of note though: the movies are in Japanese with English subtitles. There is no dub, which is a huge win for me, but for some this might be a deal breaker.

I originally bought this with the intent to watch the fourth Code Geass movie coming out in English dubbed. The movies are not dubbed but are in Japanese with English subtitles. I finished the anime series first before making this purchase and I would suggest anyone who is new to the series to do the same. The Trilogy is a summary of the original anime series however it can feel a bit fast paced at some points.Hhaving watched the anime it was much easier to fill in what was going on in some parts that were summed up for the purpose of saving time. The movies do however change a few parts of the original anime as well but not in anyway that hinders the series. It instead sets up the viewer for the fourth movie. With this in mind, I would highly recommend this trilogy to any Code Geass fan who loved the series as you will not be disappointed, an excellent Trilogy!

For fans of Code Geass. Awesome movie. They omit a lot of things to shorten the series into 3 movies. Must watch if you are going to watch Re;surrection as some things are not covered.

Having watched the complete series before finding these movies, I think they were more rewarding for me. I loved both seasons of the original series and while I'm only just about to finish the second movie, I am also enjoying these and see fit to write a review. To those who haven't seen the series: The movies are essentially condensed versions of the anime in addition to some extra scenes and detail changes that help the narrative flow more smoothly. As long as you pay attention, you should be able to get what's going on. Having already seen the anime, I think there are some things that should not have been omitted and I think I would be confused at some points if I didn't already have the context of the original series to fill in the gaps. The anime and the movies are separate entities, but I think the key details are the same. Funimation basically condensed 21 hours into 7, so it's understandable that a lot had to be cut out. That being said, even if some points may feel rushed or you feel like you might have missed something, I HIGHLY recommend watching the show to fill in the holes. As far as the set itself, I really like the steelbook artwork (looks great on my shelf). I've never been much for posters or cards, but the collectors character cards that come with the bluray are pretty cool. For the hefty pricetag, the bluray features are very lackluster. Aside from the movies, which only have Japanese audio with hard-coded english subtitles, there are only 4 minutes of extras (tv promos and trailers). Overall, I enjoy the show, thus I enjoy the movies! I think I would be bothered more by the detail omissions had I not already seen the show, but that's really my main reason for giving it four stars instead of five. That, and the lack of extras. Otherwise, a great collector's piece!

I liked this purchase. I was as o edge for a while if u should buy dvd sets instead of this but once i did research i found that this story is changed from the tv series. It is subbed not dubbed [in my opinon thats better] the others complained about it but it clearly states subbed only.

My friends and I were going to do a rewatch of the series before the movie came out in theaters but had no time, so we watched the movie trilogy. It's a condensing of 50 episodes into 3 movies so it's not the smoothest version of the story, but I definitely enjoyed the added theatrical scenes! Love the metal DVD case as well!

This is for people who have already seen the series it's pretty much the same as the original series but with a few big changes and some extra scenes that are important to the upcoming film P.S. The movie comes out in North America on may 5th sub and may 7th and 8th dub!

This is just as great as they original show, a must buy for any Code Geass fans, and if you want to watch lelouch of the resurrection since it's based on these movies not the original show

Code Geass es una leyenda de la animación y esta trilogía de películas le hace justicia, renueva el canon para la 4ª entrega “La Resurrección de Lelouch” a la vez que hace asequible la serie para las nuevas generaciones. Respecto a la presentación, es de muy buena calidad y cumple con las características de un objeto de colección. Totalmente recomendado tanto para fans de Code Geass como para quienes aun no conocen la serie.
