Fazil Say: Bach

I read a reference to this CD in a novel and was curious so I bought it. I have to say I prefer other pianists' Bach, but only because I don't like brisk interpretations. (Give me Gould with his humming and chuckling in the background!) However, the quality of the CD is first-rate and Say is an interesting artist.

One of the best Bach CDs ever!!The playing is crisp and beautiful. The prelude and fugue in a minor is haunting. Absolutely amazing. The next Glenn Gould for sure!!

Fazil plays it the way he hears it in his mind, not the way J.S. heard it in his head, and that's just fine.Love it.

This is absolutely perfect. Fazil Say is an artist of the absolute highest caliber. The bells effect in the Prelude, the clarity of the Suite, all this recording is a feast of beautiful sound, polyphony, and true virtuosity

Power and grace. I feel very grateful that I came across this shining gem, which is a path with heart.

He is a fine pianist, with just a hint of Glenn Gould about his approach, but somehow the playing never really takes flight. And it's not a great pressing - there is an unusual amount of distracting surface noise.

Die andere Art, Bach zu interpretieren. Schöne Zusammenstellung von Titeln. Die Aufnahme ist etwas hallig. Das Bild auf der CD ist etwas verwirrend, trotzdem sollte man sich die Aufnahme zulegen.

Je n'ai pas accroché réellement, le pianiste n'y est pour rien... j'ai quelques difficultés avec Bach, ce n'est pas nouveau :-)
