Updated: I've since learned that my thermostat AND my instrument panel temp gauge failed at nearly the same time. This thermostat works fine - I confirmed it by connection to an OBD sensor and reading the actual temperature from the vehicles computer rather than the temp gauge, and it was spot on. Apologies for the original faulty review. Original: I bought this as a 195 degree thermostat to replace one that had stuck open in my Chevy pickup. It fit perfectly and works, but regulates the temperature only at about 165 degrees. So it's working, but just at the wrong temperature. It has one job, and doesn't do it properly. Given the pain it is to drain the coolant and replace the thermostat, I've gotta give it an honest one star. Replacing it will cost me time and money.

1999 Tahoe. Runs right at the temp it should. What’s interesting is that the thermostat itself is branded “Motorad”, but it came in a stant box. Upon research, Motorad bought out Stant several years ago. Either way, it’s a good ‘stat.

The thermostat works just like AC Delco replacement. It does not keep steady temperature like the original did. The 5.7 Vortec engines tend to foul plugs if the engine isn't kept hot in cold weather. So having a thermostat that keeps stay temperature is important.

Bought a motorad 195 to replace the stock 180 in a 94 Cadillac Fleetwood brougham. After replacement computer reads 180 F , same poor heat . This year ordered the Stant model and installed . Have excellent heat and temperature is 195 - 198 F . The inferior Motorad was a a 180 stat stamped as a 195 . Poor quality control. STANT IS A SUPERIOR PRODUCT !

As expected

There is news both good and bad. The thermostat itself seems excellent, but the rubber seal does not fit my Volvo S40 turbo. The task to get at the thermostat on a S40 T5 is ridiculous, exhausting your entire dictionary of Swedish profanity, but the Stant thermostat seems to pop in nicely. After reassembling the whole rig your blood pressure rockets to new peaks as you watch your coolant pour onto the ground! Redoing the whole process, it is discovered that the provided sealing ring is only about 4mm thick, but the original one was about 7mm. Reusing the old seal solved the problem and my blood pressure is back to normal.
