Bar Keepers Liquid is easy to use. (Easier than the powder). It strips away grease and leaves your surface clean and shiny. It restores old stainless steel cookware to look brand new. If you have a lot of discoloration (or grease, etc), wet the item, add Bar Keepers, using a sponge get the Bar Keepers over the entire surface and let it dry. When dry, wet the item again and use the sponge to clean off the surface. Most of it will just wipe off or rinse away with the water. Only a minimal amount of elbow grease is needed to restore your item.
