Works just like I was looking for. Gentle hold, not stiff. Looks natural, feels great. A bit pricey. Good overall product.

Everything is fine except for the fragrance
Like: price is fair for the amount, low shine for a more natural look, easily spreadable so small amount needed, provides light hold as claimed (my hair is about 3-4 inches on the top), good for quick volumous hairdo for lazy daysDislike: the fragrance (it has a strong old lotion smell, which i personally do not prefer and people around me didn't like it either)The fragrance isn't disgusting but it's just not a preferable smell and I'm sure many others who have used it agrees.I hate to tear this product apart just because of a personal preference so i gave it four stars for function, price, quantity, item as described and the deduction of a star because of the smell.I ended up tossing the entire bottle because the smell limited the use completely for me (hair look good but doesn't smell good). I don't recommend this for people that care about the entirety of a hair product. If only it was fragrance free or had a more pleasant and lighter fragrance then i would've continued buying this

Good Texture
First, I have to say I don't like the extra strong and sticky hair gels. I really just need some texture and thickness in my hair so it doesn't frizz. I use this daily and have ordered many times. The cost seems crazy, but most of the similar products cost about the same. So, until Amazon Basics makes a similar product, this one is for me. It isn't greasy, dries quickly, and just adds some texture to your hair. It also has a light, pleasant smell.

This is a great product. I like this more than the American Crew products in the jar. Applied to wet hair after shower and great look
I have been through multiple different products trying to find the single hair product that works well. Unfortunately, my conclusion is nothing is perfect for everything. There are times I want to simply apply something to provide some control to hair that's relatively dry. Other times I want to use it right out of the shower. Some of the products out there I like applying omers glue your hair. I guess I was looking for spiked hair or hair that would not move in a hurricane they would be fine. The problem is once they try running a code through your hair is like running a comb through a paintbrush it's been dipped in shellac. This product seems to be pretty good. I applied on my hair when it's wet, rub it in, and then comb it. It dries quickly and gives a little bit of body. If I then brush through my hair again the style and the hold seems to be good.It doesn't give a greasy look. It does make my hair seem somewhat fuller. It gives a good control and overall I like this product very much.Of all the American Crew products, this one is currently my favorite. I have used the other ones in the jar. They're a little bit too strong for my happiness and the price on this one is good

Light hold that works
I've been a fan of this product for years now as it's a great way to defriz my curly hair but it does not make it hard and crispy. Always better pricing here on Amazon too.

How would you like to smell like the kids in the mail room?
This review is based on my first couple hours using it. I bought based on the favorable reviews here along with the opinions that the fragrance was mild and okay.Well, it arrived yesterday. Here's the big problem with American Crew light hold texture lotion: to me, it smells cheap. Like that awful body spray kids use when they first pop up in the workplace. Ick.You know, the hold of the product is pretty good: a little seems to go a long way, and I'm not finding it to have problems with fly-away hair as the day goes on. Not sure how it'll do with recovering after summer scalp sweat, and look forward to seeing. It's pretty impressive so far, though. But the smell is horribly tacky, cloying, artificial. Not as bad as it could be, but it's not something that I want associated with me (I generally wear a Jo Malone cologne of some sort). My wife says it's not too bad, but it's pretty much driving me nuts. I've had the American Crew light hold texture lotion on for a couple hours, and I can still smell it.And it smells like what you'd think something called "American Crew" would smell like. Cheap.A fragrance-free version would be a total win.Edited: Okay, that was probably way snarkier than was necessary. I really dislike the smell, though. More report on the hold - it's light, it's not greasy, and it is easily reshaped and resumes holding after wind/hats/sweat muss the initial styling. American Crew light hold texture lotion really is a first-rate product for styling thin hair. Ay, but that fragrance! Lose the fragrance, and it's probably five stars. With it . . . still three.
