will this filter work for my porter cable 4 gal wet/dry vac?

No 100% sure but I was trying to purchase a filter for the 1-gallon wet/dry vac. I do know, the size is different for a 1 gallon filter vs 4 gallon filter wet/dry vac. Does Porter Cable offer their own brand or type ? Would suggest checking for those first.

Is there a canister filter for the 1 gal stanley vac?

Not that I've found. I get for the 2+ gallon unit and cut it down

Yes, this is the only one that you use for liquids. When vacuuming dry materials, you need to either use the blue cloth filter OVER the foam filter, or you can use a brown paper disposable dust bag. For better filtration, we recommend both the blue cloth AND the disposable dust bag.

Good Replacement. Remember this is a shop vac so we put a t-shirt on the existing air as another filter if used inside. Good Price, 5 gals does a lot. Light and stores away easily. Easy to clean. Fits good.

The spongy cover-filter when using the wet function tears easily when putting it on or taking it off, so I bought a few extra. It worked fine to allow the water through once in place. Taking it off to switch to the dry bag is easy.
