This book will appeal to lovers of color and whimsy
This author/designer's book showcases her imaginative projects. Her talent is whimsy and color and the vibe is catching. I look forward to making something equally whimsical & colorful.

Beautiful designs and includes links for patterns for kindle readers.
Beautiful book and actually has link to downloadable patterns so kindle readers can make the quilts too. Well done Erica Kaprow.

Love this book!
I have started making the book cover quilt. I am on the third border. I absolutely love Erica's patterns. I have several of them. However, this is not for an inexperienced sewer as her directions are sparse. She does tell you in the beginning of the book that "this book is only a guide" and she is correct. I have done lots of wool applique so I was able to get through her project. I will definitely go on and make other quilts in this book. I do wish she would give more instructions with her patterns as it would make it so much easier to accomplish them.

Cute whimsical projects but there's only three of them
I love working with wool and enjoy mixing wool and cotton applique ... So why only a four-star rating? Well, first of all the book is only 31 pages and includes just three projects (shown on the front and back cover). The designs are whimsical and I find all three center blocks (14" to 17") to be quite charming. However, by the time the five to seven pieced and/or appliqued borders are added, my brain looses focus on the center (focal) block and I'm left with the feeling of chaos. It's kind of a sensory overload. (Completed projects range in size from 42" to 46".)The book is well written. The layout sheets are tear-outs at the back of the book. The individual applique shapes are included right after the individual pattern instructions. Some things to take note of is that the author uses freezer paper templates (not fusible web), shapes are not mirror imaged so you need to do that for any cotton shapes, and if you are doing needle-turn applique for the cotton elements, you need to add a seam allowance. Also, the applique elements that are pieced under another do NOT already include an extension so you have to make sure to add those. If I was offered purchase do-overs, would I buy this book again? Hummm, I really don't know. As I mentioned, I do like the center blocks and they would be really cute as a throw pillow with maybe one or two appliqued borders. The piecing and applique shapes are simple so even a newcomer to wool applique should be able to successfully complete the projects in this book. Plus, if you're not into needle-turn applique you can easily use fusible web instead.
