The taste is usual tamarind taste and color Is black which spoils the appearance of Rasam or Sambar.

A good quality of clean tamarind
This is my second purchase though ordering for the first time on Amazon. It's almost a cleaned product. We dont see the usal tamarind seed, pieces of outer shell n dirt in it. Price is bit on the higher side but makes ur cooking a lot more convenient.

Slightly sweet and sour. Like the taste. By the way, I had ordered three packets and when opened the poorly sealed brown paper packet, found only two. Of course, Amazon immediately apologized and promised to refund for one. Moral: always open the package and check lest it becomes time barred for complaining
