Sun Joe SBJ606E-GA-PRP 250 MPH 14 Amp 4-in-1 Electric Blower/Vacuum/Mulcher/Gutter Cleaner, Purple

Since this vacuum/blower is electric it is much quieter and more environmentally friendly than the gas models. Has stronger suction and blower than lithium battery powered units we tried previously. The gutter attachment worked very well and made the nasty job of gutter cleaning much easier. Vacuum bags are made of some sort of nylon-ish fabric with a sturdy zipper. We ordered extra bags to speed up the leaf clearing process (one person can vacuum while the other empties the bags), fyi there are two sizes of bags available, reasonably priced. Switching between blower and vacuum functions is easy to do. Now that we grind the leaves we don't need to use as many yard bags. Recommend wearing a face mask when using the vacuum feature as it can sometimes get a bit dusty from dirt and leaves getting ground up, but that shouldn't be a game changer.

I bought this to replace a 15 year old B&D Hedgehog that finally broke up.This unit has as much power, variable speed and is a little quieter. I was impressed with the metal impeller. The gutter blower is not that great. It is very wobbly with all the extensions attached and hard to direct into the gutter. And it's hard to control where the debris blows. Some of it goes back into the gutter, defeating the purpose.All the attachments worked well. Suction was good. The wheels on the tube are a nice plus. The bags are good.At 14 amps, you'll need a good extension cord.I assume the mulching function will be OK. I was just picking up maple blossom debris. It handled those small pieces just fine.

Vacuum function works very well, blower works well but could use a little more mph. Variable power is great for not blowing mulch out of flower beds. Included gutter blower attachment worked very well. I won't have to haul out the ladder to clean them this year. Vacuum bag is easy to attach and is supported by the blower/vacuum which is better than the shoulder strap designs. However, the bag needs a longer zipper to make it easier to empty without having to use your hands to pull out leaves when it is completely full. A carry handle for the bag would also be a good improvement to make it easier to carry a full bag to location where you are dumping the leaves out since it has a strapless design.

Works well, wish it were stronger for vacuum use, but seems to be a theme across all brands. The impeller is metal which is a decent upgrade compared to most. Largest drawback is the collection bags, which each have a flaw, the one drapes too low if clipped to the machine and the other shoulder strap version isn't long enough for a tall person to reach the ground.

The media could not be loaded. Right out of the box, the first time I turned this blower vacuum on, it caught on fire. The attached video is from a replacement item I received subsequently. Even though I did not attribute the defect to Amazon, they sold it so I had them replace it. The manufacturer, Sun Joe, includes literature with their product that indicates, “we strive to make your experience as pleasant as possible.” They also claim to be dedicated to their customer. The included literature implores the customer to call Sun Joe if there are any issues. I called. They kept me on the phone for over 40 minutes with the first defective unit. They offered to replace the product but only with a different color as the one I purchased has been discontinued. Nowhere in the listing did it indicate that this was a discontinued product. I agreed that a different color would be acceptable, however; they indicated it would take 5-7 business days to replace after they received the defective unit! That would have taken 3 weeks. I’m a Prime customer. Amazon had the item delivered in one day. Fortunately, they are a company with more integrity than Sun Joe displayed in this circumstance. Amazon sent me another unit and had UPS pick up the defective one.. I never thought to take a video of the first deflective unit because I assumed this was a fluke. Believe it or not, the first unit had a much more spectacular arcing going on inside the unit as compared to the attached video. A flame was visible for at least a second after I turned the power switch off on that unit. Then a burnt odor could be discerned coming from the unit. Now I have a 2nd unit that has the same defect. Now I'm concerned that this is a wide-ranging defect. I once again placed several calls to Sun Joe. I asked to speak with a Sun Joe supervisor numerous times to call their attention to this dangerous defect but none was ever available. I was promised they would call me back that day. They did not. Several days later, a supervisor did call. He seemed extremely concerned and assured me that Sun Joe would make this right. That was three business days ago. I have not heard back from them. So much for their concern. I even called yesterday to remind them that I am anxiously awaiting a call. The CS rep indicated I would receive a call by end of day. No call. At this point, we are approaching the point of exceeding the parameters of my patience with this company. I will have to return this product to Amazon again since I am getting absolutely zero satisfaction from Sun Joe. This should not be Amazon's problem. Thank goodness for Amazon’s defective merchandise replacement policy. Very disappointed with Sun Joe. This is a review of the manufacturer not the seller, Amazon. Sun Joe is not a reliable company to work with upon discovery of a defective product. As a result of this experience, I would anticipate a similar response to any future issues that may arise during the warranty period. Very disappointed! Update. It's been a week since a supervisor told me they would remedy this issue at Sun Joe. No calls. No emails. Not a reputable company in my opinion. Sorry. 2nd UPDATE - Several weeks after I wrote this review, a senior customer service manager eventually contacted me. I sent them a copy of the video I posted here previously but apparently it took quite some time before this issue reached the supervisor's attention. They requested that I return the now 3rd defective unit to them for inspection. I agreed but based on past experience, only as long as they agreed to inspect the replacement before they sent it out to me. Both the company and I met our obligations. I appreciate the fact that a representative ultimately responded to my concerns, however; it took well over a month for that to occur. When I opened the replacement unit and plugged it in, I still notice a sizeable arcing from the interior of the motor housing. As a 45-year Masters Licensed electrician, I retired from my career as an electrical inspector. I have a great deal of experience with electrical and electronics. In my opinion, if these units were to be energized, say in a shed on a hot summer day where gasoline is stored, I could perceive a circumstance where the arc from this leaf blower could ignite any vapors present. My objective throughout this entire process was to elucidate this to the manufacturer. I never heard back from them since they received the defective unit. Now they have the video that is posted here of the 2nd unit and the defective 3rd unit I returned to them as requested. I have no idea if they have resolved this issue or if they continue to manufacture residential, electrically-operated, lawn maintenance devices for consumers with this hazardous defect. I am concerned that someone may be badly burned in a circumstance such as I described. The supervisor was pleasant, respectful and apologetic, however; Sun Joe representatives were terrible at communicating or making a decision without having to speak to a supervisor. They would not connect me to a supervisor when I determined that the issue was above their pay grade. Sun Joe needs better trained customer service reps. I dislike seeming as if I am speaking pejoratively about a company in my reviews but I feel that I am compelled to tell the truth. In conclusion, Caveat Emptor. Or simply put, Buyer Beware!

This is a very powerful and effective leaf chipper. It does decent on wet leaves, especially if you are careful not to suck too many of the wet leaves at once. It is very lightweight, nicely balanced grips, solid connections, easy to use plastic controls. It is also easy to tell when the bag is full....not sure how long the bag will last, but is working fine for now.I also contacted the company due to a missing part and it was sent out immediately, what more can you ask for at this price?

Surprised. Works better than expected. Blower,vacuum and shredder did well in my yard and all parts were easy to change.Have yet to try the gutter attachment.
