could I set 6 disk drives in raid 50 and use a 7th SSD drive as a cache with this card?

Yes, but you have to buy the CacheCade Pro 2.0 Software Pack with Fast Path hardware key. Now you will need the 8-port model of this card. For the 4-port model you need an active backplane known as an "expander" that allows more than 1 drive per port... or else you will run out of connectors if you just get the 4-way breakout cable that goes to each discrete drive.
