Paddles Up!: Dragon Boat Racing in Canada

Awesome read is what this is. Many thanks to coach Dennis Tarnopolsky for telling me to have a read of it. It is well-written and easily digested without being too simplified. Gets to the point in a crisp clear manner about all things dragon boat related - so much so that you just want to get out there, grab that paddle, jump in the boat and have a fine time working out the stroke mechanics, timing, power and endurance with your team. I truly appreciate the comprehensive approach taken here and I have since introduced it to as many folks as I can find both home and abroad. Excellent job, and my paddle is raised high for the authors. They have fuelled my passion for this sport even more than I had expected "from a book". But great books tend to do that! It is a must-read for all dragonboaters - especially folks who are getting into coaching. Excellent starting point and springboard for more in-depth learning. ......BUY IT! :)

I enjoyed reading this book and was able to pick up a lot of new information. The history of Dragon Boating was extremely interesting. I would however recommend actually purchasing the hard copy of this book. I did find that I wasn't able to digest the pertinent information regarding the exercises due to the poor copy (unreadable) on my Kindle. Because I wasn't able to print the suggested gym program I was unable to take it with me to the gym. I will purchase this book (the hard copy) in the future for the reference material.

was hard to find good information on paddling but this book is a keeper. Am so glad I found this book and discovered the joy and challenge of dragon boat racing!

There are many books written about Dragon Boating.This one is the very best & most thorough & insightful of all of them.The writing style is easy to read & informative.Much research, data and heart & soul went into giving this book to those as passionate about the sport as the writers & contributors in the book !

I was very interested in this book as I am a paddler, I find the information useful and the quotes great! My own coach , Nancy Jones was quoted in this book and I find it inspiring.We need to recognize our own great Canadian talents.
