Flies like a dream!
I really like this rocket! We launch in a farm field that is surrounded by trees, with too many rockets ending up in their canopies. The Semroc Red Eye is the perfect rocket for small fields ... and you can fly it in significant wind, too. It's surprisingly sturdy ... and it was fun to build, too.IMPORTANT NOTE: Do not glue the streamer to the engine mount (the engine mount ejects and flutters back to earth on its own). It is almost impossible to get a secure contact between the plastic streamer and the engine tube. I tried epoxy, Gorilla glue, superglue, etc. Tried sanding/roughing the contact areas, etc. No joy. The only solution that I found is to tie a kevlar loop around the engine tube and attach the plastic streamer to the tube. It also helps to paint the tube international orange so that you can find it in anything higher than a 2" or 3" lawn.
