So far so good
Mechanical advance weights were stuck at first. Lubed up with some engine oil and put lighter springs on. Working great now. Obviously i don’t know about long term durability but it solved my ignition issues for $50, I’m not complaining. 1977 f150 with 400 engine

Looks and works great
This was very easy to install in my 79 bronco and looks and works excellent. I definitely noticed a smoother idle and acceleration but say I noticed a power difference. cleaned up the engine bay of all the original wires and looks excellent.

Junk. Rotary cap melted and came apart. Didn’t last 500 miles

Easy to get rid of the complicated Ford ignition system, as long as your old distributor pulls free.
As others stated, I did have to shave some material off my thermostat housing so I could spin and time my engine. If they had raised up this distributor another 1/2" then there would be no need to carve up my housing or buy a different one. The Ford 460 OEM distributor broke off in the block and took me days to free up and be removed. I had made note of which plug the rotor was aiming at, dropped this in as close as I could to lining up with a tower on the HEI cap, then bumped engine to drop into pump, bolted in hold down clamp, added plug wires from old Ford system, added the vacuum line, used the hot wire from coil to test unit, and she fired right up. Will use the coil lead to trigger a relay so have full 12VDC being applied and not whatever voltage this resistor wire applied. I just needed this 87 JD build Winnebago motor-home to able to fire off and move if needed and the old Ford system had some short to the PIP wire and instead of troubleshooting and replacing parts, bought this as Used-Like New for $45 and happy with my decision. CRC Knock'r Loose and a can of compressed air was used to pull old distributor free. Knocked off a star for having to carve up my thermostat housing with portable grinder, if only these were another 1/2" taller. Took like 15s to smooth off housing with portable grinder, so no real issue, but having to possibly pull distributor if need to change thermostat, think can squeeze it from under, is not ideal but much better than what was in there.

Better than stock
This all in one general motor style HEI ignition is much simpler to diagnose and service than stock ignition $600 I did have to shave the casing down just a little bit to get it to clear my thermostat housing Very good quality and very very good price

Nice build quality.
Very good quality. Looks very nice. Unfortunately, it does not fit my application. I have a 1973 Ford 429 and this distributor hits the thermostat housing. I do have an aftermarket Edlebrock intake and maybe that is why it doesn't fit. Too bad because ant other option is at least twice the price.

Easy job
Installed in 1986 F350 Dump truck 460 CID 4V Holley carb. Stock air filter won't work. No mods. needed on the distributor. Easy to install.
