The Playboy Book - 50 Years: Fifty Years

Paid just under £4 for a second hand copy so wasn't really expecting too much. I have to say it's in excellent condition and quite a size at 24cm wide and 31cm long. There's a lot of history within it's pages with it showing the various covers, interviews, books, models, celebrities and girls of Playboy. It's hard nowadays to find anything relating to Playboy as there's been a serious kickback against it over the last few years so we were overjoyed to get this and for such a cheap price as it can go for a lot more elsewhere. The pages are glossy and printed to perfection. Can't go wrong with this if this is your scene. 10 out of 10.

This overview of is a really impressive pictorial history of Playboy. The magazine did so much more than nude photos and everything gets covered here making a gorgeus coffe table book. It covers the begining of the magazine to 1994, which really were the golden age of Playboy.

This is a large hardback book, presenting a 350+ page narrative on the publication history of 'Playboy' magazine from the early 1950's to the early 1990's. It's a quality product, full of glossy pages. While there are plenty of nude photos of women, in a variety of erotic poses, the softcore component of this book certainly doesn't dominate. Rather, it's full of snippets of interviews and stories as appeared in the magazine. Additionally, a tale is offered concerning how the magazine got started and how it developed. The last 20 years or so - from the mid-1990's to the present - are not covered here. The main focus is the 'golden age' of Playboy, from the mid-50's to the 1970's. And, for anyone with an interest in the magazine or in erotic photography, this is a fascinating book. It originally cost £30 - but it's now available for much less. I bought a 'like new' copy for just £10.

Great condition, cool piece of history about playboy. Orgnially bought as a gift like it so much had to buy another one for myself.

Cover came with a few tiny paint splats and a little rip at the top. However overall the actual book itself was perfect condition and would highly reccomend.

A big book, chronicling a pictorial history. Plenty to look at (and laugh at), and articles and other things to read too. A very good book overall. Many thanks.

For the gentleman who grew up with Playboy, this is a must have for the discreet library. The book provides a trip down memory lane with the best of the cartoons, articles and, of course, the centerfolds.

Superb photo history of the first 50 years of Playboy magazine! The evolution of this groundbreaking publication is nothing short of amazing. I have always loved "vintage" Playboy photography and illustrations, and the Playboy book delivers this BIG time! Also, the DVD's of Playboy After Hours, and Playboy's Penthouse are incredible too. I'm glad I was able to obtain a "used" copy of The Playboy Book in such great condition, for such a great price! This tome is a great addition to my library. Thanks!

could have had more pictiorials

Although Playboy is what it is, and because of the reason why many people purchase the magazine, there needs to be an understanding of the true content of the magazine through the years. Remember that the magazine is usually only 20% sex and nude women. That leaves 80% every month to be used for art, technology, controversial editorials, interviews, etc. This tome is huge and heavy, and I'm glad it takes the reader through a tour of 50 years of the COMPLETE world of Playboy. If you only want naked women, don't buy this - buy either "The Playmate Book" or "Blondes", "Brunettes", or "Redheads".
