The Discernment of Spirits: A Reader's Guide: An Ignatian Guide for Everyday Living

I'm still exploring the chapters of Fr. Gallagher's book and it is truly wonderful. I'd already watched many of his videos, so I was acquainted with this topic. He goes into great detail about each of the fourteen rules. I'd highly recommend this book.

It was a gift

I come to this work as a non-Catholic. I've listened to Timothy Gallagher on YouTube. He has a whole series on the work of St Ignatius. I wish that I had exposure to these rules of spiritual discernment of spirits. It would have made my experience with the Spiritual Path more clear and less flying by the seat of my pants and my heart for grace. Gallagher beings these early yet contemporary teaching on spiritual discernment into contemporary language. But more importantly, he brings to them a clarity of purpose and knowledge of one who is clearly doing his work and staying live to the subject. I especially like the Reader's guide, which I usually dislike in many writings. This has the power to underscore what needs to be underscored and applied as you actually live, not as you want to be seen by the teacher.

I love this guide that goes alone with the book. I have learned so much from it and it has reinforced my understanding of descernment in the spiritual world. I highly recommend it to anyone who is struggling with finding peace in their life and trying to understand why things happen good and bad. Very enlightening.

How I wish this I had been introduced to this book 30 years ago.What Father Timothy Gallagher has done in this book and its companion can only be compared to how a loving shepherd leads his sheep through a minefield to the safety of verdant pastures.Through his detailed and clear explanation of the 14 Rules of Discernment of Spirits along with practical examples and scenarios, Father Timothy has provided the reader a roadmap out of the chaos and deceptive paths of the evil one.Listening to his lectures, reading the book and working through the prescribed excercises in the workbook through prayers will be used by God to set the captives free.It should be a "primer" for all.

If you are familiar with St. Ignatius and his philosophies, you will probably like this book. It is a bit tedius and redundant but so was Ignatius. It is a very good study for serious
