Color and gauge info
I'm modding a 25-yr old Ford van with new wiring and relays, and needed new sockets because the originals were fragile. Fat chance you're going to find a supplier that actually lists their wire size or color pinouts or the temperature rating. (Temp rating later found on the package, backside). For comparision I have in my possession a lot of wire stock, in all gauges, unambiguously labeled according to gauge and insulation material. My wire stripper says that this Dorman product is built with 16 gauge wire and that's what my eye detects when comparing to my labeled stock. The insulation material on Dorman is a bit shinier, rubbery and thicker than my 16 ga GXL. I wouldn't be surprised if it as GP spec, but I don't know. The socket housing is plastic, not ceramic, so I can't agree with their "High Temp" label. Back of the package says "high temperature nylon" and gives a rating of 482F / 250C. I like the rubber boot which will shield the rear of the housing. It will not provide water tight protection for the lugs on the lamp because it is not wide enough to completely cover the lug base.As for pinouts...looking into the socket from the lamp side with the center connection at the top, you get BLUE on top, BLACK to the right and RED to the left. I'll post a pic of the harness side. This works for many people but it did not match my vehicle colors (green v blue) or where my original red was. This is not a show-stopper, just need to recreate the connections according by position. However, since I've got 12 ga stock in my preferred colors in a known insulation temperature grade, you know exactly what I'm gonna do. Yes, you can get the terminals out.Update: May 2018, iow's five years later.Had to be in there for other reasons. Discovered the rubber boots had completely (!) cracked/fractured many places, just falling apart. Combined with all that was unusable 5 years ago, basically a total loss of the original cost. Will start over with something else.

Worked Well on 1999 Subaru Impreza
Worked well for replacing a burnt driver side socket. Took a little time to figure out what wire goes where after taking apart the original headlight sockets. For those with a similar vehicle to mine if your wires are the same color.Passenger headlight:OEM ~ DormanRed ~ RedBlue/White ~BlackYellow/Blue ~ BlueDriver Headlight:Red ~ RedRed/Blue ~ BlackYellow/Blue ~ Blue

1999 civic
After over twenty years, my civic wires were nasty and corroded. This replacement part was affordable and worked perfectly. They’re rather long but you can trim them to your needs. I just had to buy some heat shrink soldering wrap and some dielectric grease and I was good to go!
