Good to use as garden seed.
I plant them in garden. Good germination rate. Great Northern despite the name do pretty well in the south if you keep them watered. Tolerate the heat well. You can pick the immature pods as green beans, though like the old fashion green bean varieties, you have to pull the string.before snapping them. And an interesting quality I discovered first time I grew them. Do light harvest of the younger leaves and they work well in salad. Most bean leaves are tough and/or have strong flavor. These are ok as a summer green. I bought the organic because the commercial Great Northern are irradiated to kill bug eggs which also means a very low germination rate. Good price for garden seed. Seem might high for bean you are going to cook for dinner. They are good quality beans and clean.

Good Beans
Product delivered promptly as I had just run out. Beans are organic and seem to be good quality-not too many 'funny' ones. Flavor is fine, I eat plain with white rice, delicious.

THE BEST Great Northerns EVER
This is our second purchase - haven't opened this bag yet. Months after receiving the first package of beans, we finally cooked half of them. Not a single pebble or speck of dirt in the package. Simply following usual bean recipes they cooked up tender and delicious in an hour. This was very different from our usual experience with beans, whether high volume commercially available or special pick organic. The second batch of beans was a repeat of the experience - clean, creamy, delicious flavored beans that were distinct individuals that didn't fall apart while cooking them to tenderness. Our favorite great northerns of all time.

Great Beans!
These cook easily. Don't need to haul out the pressure cooker. Like to use Great Northern beans as they are easier to flavor than some of the darker beans. The plus of these are they are organic. Will definitely order again.

HIGH QUALITY PRODUCT!
We went through our first 5 pound bag and I'm now ordering our second - just in time for Fall Soupmaking. These are high quality beans with no dust, dirt, debris or stones. Still, we rinse them before cooking in the crockpot on high for 6 hours with beef bone broth, dried onions, Orrington Farms Ham seasoning (also from Amazon), bay leaves and a dash of ground thyme. Chunks of ham are added only for the last hour. Add some homemade cornbread & you've got a fabulous, hearty meal.

Great Northern beans are difficult to find in our grocery stores. I love them because they do not turn to mush when cooked to tender stage.
