A book of Victore’s Best hits
It’s a gorgeous book, visually it’s a work of art. As far as substance I guess I was expecting a little more. It’s essentially a greatest hits of Victore’s work. It makes for a great coffee table book. Great to look at but I don’t think it’ll get a lot of repeated reading from me.

Honest craftmanship......
James Victore is often referred to as 'the angriest man in graphic design'the title is undeserved, the fact of the matter is that he has a unique point of view in a field that is often unfortunately defined by the latest trends of what merely 'looks cool at the moment.' Victore can say more in a single brush stroke than most of us can convey in a month of diddling at our computers. I'm pretty much over the 'designer vanity monograph' but this book manages to rise above the 'show-ff' standards of such books to convey a real dedication and honesty to the craft of graphic design. Crammed with a plethora of beautifully designed pieces from his early days to the present, the book is designed by like-minded design adventurer Paul Sahre and has a foreward written by probably the smartest person in graphic design at the moment, Michael Beirut - you get a lot of bang for your buck with this book! A welcome addition to any designers collection.

Amazing :)
Hi all,I saw a review of this book on a site called Cool Hunting (one of those sites that sends you an email every day on unique and varied items of interest) which I really love - it's one of the better ones. Anyhow, I saw a review of this book and I had to have it.Let me tell you, it does not disappoint! If pressed, I would call Victore's style as a kind of mix of Toulouse Latrec (in the sense of big bold posters) mixed with the humor of Banksy - and the result is just wonderful and pure Victore.I ended up actually purchasing a poster (How to draw a chicken) from his Etsy site, which he was kind enough to autograph for me. It is now in a place of honor in my living room, and Victore is my new favorite.BUY THIS BOOK!!! :)-Suzy

A Unique Designer, but an Annoying Book
Its supposed to be handled and moved around, I get it, but I don't like it. Having to hold the book sideways the entire time never feels right and a lot of the pictures are aligned vertical so you have to keep flipping it. If its supposed to spark imagination I don't understand why all the pages are black either. That aside, I like James Victore. For anyone who doesn't know about him, he has a very unique style that always pushes boundaries. If you get the chance listen to his talks or watch one of his workshops and you won't regret it.

Such an inspiring book, full of inspirational images!
James Victore is a Bad Ass, that expresses himself without boundaries. He makes you think, and question the world around us. There are very few artists that can express what he can in a single brush stroke. This is a must read for aspiring artists.

Excellent monograph.
James Victore has never been one to mince words or images in his goal to communicate, and this book is no different. Victore or, Who Died and Made You Boss? is a well written (both engaging and informative) and beautifully designed collection of James Victore’s distinct visual work and ideas. An important reference book for designers and students everywhere.
