A little book for studying vocabulary for N5
Upon receiving this, it came in a new condition, with a few dents on the book jacket, but I can accept it.I like the portable size of this book, and can read through like a book. I may not always reach for the Genki I textbook when I am not studying, so I can study comfortably with this book when reviewing. From skimming through this book, I like the structure and the sentence examples for each vocabulary. I do not know how much vocabulary I know from self studying from Genki I, Duolingo (for practice), and Japanese Ammo, so this book is a good supplement for review and gauges how much I have learned. One thing I have noticed is people not liking the bilingual format of this book in English and Vietnamese. I can acknowledge this is a valid criticism who can only read English. However, I find it to be a bonus for those who are also studying Vietnamese, or like me, who speak as their native language. Since I mainly understand Vietnamese through speaking and listening, it is a good practice for reading. As I progress through my Japanese studies, I plan to pick up other books from this publisher to supplement with Genki/Japan Times publisher and YouTube.

Excellent vocabulary book for beginner level Japanese
An excellent vocabulary book for beginner level Japanese. Portable size is easy to carry around. This is much better than simple word lists. Each word has a sentence and the red translucent card hides the answers. Also, words are organized by themes in sections.Audio files and tests can be downloaded at the website of ask-books.Book is not focused on teaching how to write or the kanji. Different books can help with thatThis is a good and fun system to learn vocabulary fast. After one has learned vocabulary then for longer-term reviews, a computerized SRS system might be helpful so one's time is focused only on "problematic" words.

Love the red
I love how there's a red insert to help you study by blocking out words to make you think.

Very Nice and Understandable
The book itself and very neat and nice. The layout is just enough to fit all that is needed for the page and the size is just right to carry on the go. All of the pronounciation for each vocabulary word is written in hiragana/katakana; which is actually really nice to not being able to rely on romaji and being forced to read japanese.I will say I only bought the book for basic vocabulary, not for the N5 test, so I cannot commentate if the book does help with the N5 test. The only con that I would list is that nothing is in kanji, so words like "私" are spelled out "わたし", "にほん" instead of "日本" etc. I personally would like to have the kanji also listed just to understand that certain words/phrases are written in kanji rather than hiragana, but that's just me.Overall, very nice and a wonderful book!

Good for starters
It arrived earlier than expected! Yay!! It's good to study vocabulary and start to understand, the audios are great and helps with pronunciation, the app is kind of tricky but if you at least know a little hitagana and katakana you will manage just right.

Excellent!
Really nice and small. I think this book is quite a lot like a planner to track your progress. It doesn't take up a lot of space and the 1046 words, sentences, and audio clips will be useful for a very long time. Easy to read and exceedingly convenient to use. The red filter bookmark is one of my favorite things I have seen in a book like this and it's really a must have to get the whole collection.
