One of the best!
This movie is often considered one of the best of the entire godzilla series. In this film, the monster mothra has laid an egg, which gets washed away in a storm, where buisnessmen attempt to make money from it, against the wishes of thers, including mothra's twin fairy gards. Eventually, godzilla emerges and starts rampaging. Mothra is called on but is killed, leading to her egg hatching and... well, I won't tell you how it ends, you'll have to see it yourself. This beautiful DVD set comes in a glossy silver case and includes the U.S and Japanese film releases, as well as commercials, posters and a documentary on oner of the main people to bring godzilla to life.Well worth buying at this cheap a price, a great fight between two toho giants well worth owning if your a fan or not.

A Real Classic
One of the best in the Godzilla Series. While its effects may not be like the special effects of Avatar, this films effect are far more realistic as the suits used for the monsters are real and are actually there in the scene they are in.Check out my film review here [...]

I AM INFORMED THE FILM WAS VERY ENJOYABLE.
Rated as a very good film by the person whom I gifted it to. I never viewed it myself. Based on that, I am very contented with the goods and the price for which I paid for it.

One of the best monster movies ever made!
This, as I said in the tile, is One of the best monster movies ever made. The DVD is brillent, you get both the Japanese verison(Mothra vs. Godzilla) and the US version(Godzilla vs. the thing), both look and sound fantasic. The special effects on show is very, very good and lot better than most effects you get in movies to day. On the US version there is a very will done audio commentary by godzilla exeperts Steve Ryfle and Ed Godziszewski.anyway I really do enjoy this movie very time I watch it, so all I got to say is this is the one to go for best copy available.

The best Godzilla sequel?
It may be the best Godzilla sequel. This DVD is certainly most affordable way to own . Pic and sound quality very good. Commentary and Akira Ifukube bio were nice, too. Overall, good value.

Mothra, Godzilla, the titans will meet.
When I was a child i only had my parents' word as to whether or not certain films were worth watching. Godzilla, the original b&w classic, was apparently my mother's favorite. i watched it with certain degrees of enthusiasm. Later my enthusiasm grew when one of the local stations in my town started showing these classic films on Saturday afternoons. With my dad watching them with me, talking for the monsters so that I knew what they were saying (and believe me they were very foul mouthed towards each other), I fell in love with these. As i got older, I learned more of the histories behind these classics, and soon became a huge fan wanting not only the movies, but the chance to watch them in their original japanese to see what differences there were. This is the film that introduced one og Godzilla's greatest enemies who would from time to time become an ally, but then always revert back to being an enemy. Mothra is (obviously due to lack of ability to name things), a giant moth with no intention of destroying anyone or anything. in fact, as later movies will reveal, she's a part of the earth we never really understood. This is the movie that shows that Godzilla like an early morning breakfast consisting of eggs as much as any other hungry person in the world. LOLI won't reveal plots, talk about acting, glorify the use of minatures, because you need to see these movies in order to appreciate them fully. I paid a miniscule price for a lifetime of fond memories and highly reccommend adding this movie to your collection.

Horay for Mothra!
Mothra vs Godzilla has got to be my most favorite of All godzilla movie ever made! To this day I have not seen a godzilla movie that rivals this in terms of story, action, and enjoyment. I remember watching this as a little kid on TNT's monster vision. Back then it was called godzilla vs. the thing and it wasn't until I was older that I figured out why. It was the first movie that made me fall in love with the godzilla movies and of course my most favorite Kaiju of all Mothra. I always thought Mothra was such a cool character because she was a benevolent being, a moth, had worshipers, two twin deities, eternal and ever living, didn't rely on any special abilities like other kaijus, and a Female! It wasn't just her character that made this movie great it's the overall story itself. This movie actually made sense without it being too serious and melodramatic like the original godzilla, too focus on kids, and worst of all to campy because of alien invasions. I never understood the story lines with alien beings, why would a superior race always want to take over an inferior race with inferior technology like earth? This movie's mature underlying theme is about capitalism, industrialism, and human nature. For those unaware of the story, Mothra vs Godzilla is about Mothra's egg's washing ashore onto Tokyo. The egg is then bought by two businessmen in the hopes of turning it into a tourist attraction. Mothra's twin deities comes to plead for her egg back, but are refused. During the construction of the theme park to hold the egg, godzilla appears and starts to wreak havoc and to Mothra's egg. Now it's up for mothra to save the day. The story is more complex than that, I didn't wanted to ruin the plot but this is the best story to set up Mothra and Godzilla together. You'll be hard press to find another movie that can put Mothra and Godzilla together cohesively. In fact every movie to this day will use elements from the original 1964 version to pit Mothra and Godzilla against each other! The dvd version of this movie is also great! Finally you'll be able to view Mothra vs Godzilla in it's originally Japanese theatrical cut in widescreen. No more laughable english dubs but also available if preferred. The audio commentary is also great and informative, it actually has insights about the movie instead of useless rambles and banter like most commentary. There is also extras like theatrical trailer, movie posters, and exerts from music composer Akira Ifukube a Godzilla veteran. I most highly recommend this for anyone who is a Godzilla fan or Mothra fan.Oh I know Amazon likes to bunch their reviews together but this review is for Mothra vs Godzilla (1962) in the silver case with the blue bottom slip.

The Egg Belongs to Mothra...the MIghty Thing....
Mothra vs. Godzilla features one of Godzilla's finest screen appearances, with human drama and spectacular monster action coming together to create a near-flawless daikaiju picture. Classic Media presents an excellent DVD release, with both the original Japanese version and the 1964 American International Pictures release (under the original A.I.P. title Godzilla vs. the Thing). This film is one of the few Toho monster fests whose American release version surpasses the original. This Toho classic depicts Godzilla at his all-time best, featuring one of the most impressive Godzilla suit designs and some of Eiji Tsuburaya's finest special effects work. Virtually every scene featuring Godzilla was composed to be visually spectacular, and the innovative effects work holds up admirably, even after 40+ years. Akira Ifukube composed a memorable score, which perfectly complements the film and establishes motifs that have become synonymous with Godzilla over the years. While the original Japanese version contains a few minor scenes that aren't present in the American release, it is missing one of the best-realized effects sequences shot for the film--the Frontier missile attack scene. Most likely, this is because the attack is carried out by the U.S. Navy, which, at the time, would have flown in the face of Japanese sensibilities. The Classic Media DVD is superb, although the aspect ratio of the U.S. version is cropped to be narrower than the original widescreen (due to it otherwise being the best available print, I understand). It's a small issue, so this DVD release receives top recommendation.

Classic Kaiju Saga!!!
First, Classic Media has done a bang-up job with this release, giving us both the AIP-Saperstein English language release and the Toho Japanese language release as well. The quality of both prints is wonderful, but the AIP one is in 1.85-- I don't honestly recall if it was distributed that way or not here in the USA-- and the Toho one is in the proper 2.35 and there were a few slight differences as would be expected from the differing ratios. I won't go into the story-- we all know it by now. This was always a very well loved release from the Gojira/Godzilla canon of Toho and the last before the shift to the Big G becoming a sort of super-hero for a while. I've always loved this classic and the extras on the DVD are lovely also. Highly recommended for we Kaiju Eiga lovers!!!! :)
