The Ashton-Drake Galleries Doll: Cutest Baby Portrait Savana Baby Doll

I looked at every doll that Ashton Drake had in the Real Feel category. It was a very hard decision to make. It was down to Savanna or the one with the Winnie the Pooh bib. My husband helped me decide on Savanna, because he liked the open eyes. I'm glad I listened to him! She was a gift from my husband, for my 50th birthday a few months ago. Her eyes are beautiful! They are more a purple color, than a blue. Her hair is a little unruly, like most of these dolls. I just made her a hat. I also got her a 0 - 3 month outfit, because the fleece outfit she comes in, is beautiful, but too hot for her new Tennessee home! :-) At least one of the other reviews mentioned that she didn't look as good as the photos. I think she looks better! The photos do not show the shine in her eyes! And her little mouth, with that beautiful smile, looks very real. You can see the shine on her lips. Her smile is so contagious! Every time I walk past her cradle, I see that smile and just have to smile back and tell her hello! I hope anyone that brings Savanna into their home, will be as happy with her as I am!

The doll face, expression, weight, and find detail even on the fingernails are really very nice… And they are totally overwhelmed by the absolute ugliness of the hair that was installed on this baby doll. It looks like she’s a victim of a hair transplant gone bad from the holes, they put in the head to attach the hair to the hair type itself.. I would not buy this doll again.

I bought this doll as a present for my 7-year-old daughter. I know it is not marketed as a toy, but rather as a collectable. My daughter treats this doll gently, so this doll has not had any "injuries". However, since this doll is a collectable and does have very fragile, soft, glued-on hair, the hair has become matted from normal play and clothing changes. If you try to brush the tangles out, the hair will come out and you will risk "balding". When I bought the doll, I knew the hair would eventually become a mess, so I am not upset about it. Just know that if it is used for anything other than a bric-a-brac, the hair may end up looking like a rat's nest. The doll is beautifully crafted, has a soft, life-like appearance, and is fun to hold due to it's weight. The body is a batting and bean doll body, but the appendages and head are silacone. My daughter has taken her in public and people have mistaken her for a real baby. If you plan on purchasing real baby clothes for her, make sure to get newborn or preemie size, 0-3 months is just too baggy.

Baby Savannah has been such a joy for our family. She should have gotten 3 stars as her body is actually vinyl and her torso is made of cloth; but she has made my grandchildren so happy; I cannot even begin to tell you. She looks like a real baby; and when we carry her; people stop because they think it is a real baby. Recently my grandchild was in the hospital; Baby Savannah; who we have renamed Baby Norah; was the healing comfort needed. I would recommend this doll; however it is fragile because of the cloth body. I never regret buying this beautiful work of "doll art"; thank you Ashton Drake and the artist Ms. Ping.

Bought her for someone with dementia. She loves her new baby. The doll did smell like chemicals when I first opened the box. I let her air out for a couple of days. The smell did go away. She is so sweet in person. I would say she is as expected and worth the price.
