Awesome buy!
My 8-year-old son likes that the soldiers are good quality with detailed weapons, uniforms, and faces. The plastic is also sturdy, and they're great for using for school projects and at birthday parties. They are historically accurate. His dislikes are that one of the soldiers has a hard time standing up (1 out of 200), and that the flags are a bit lacking in the quality compared to the soldiers. Overall, an awesome buy for him. He plays with them constantly!

My boys like this toy - what more is there to say?
Observations: 1. Quality and Durability - having purchased various bags of garage-sale "army guys" I can honestly say that these are very nice. The bases are wide enough that they stand up well even on berber carpet. The plastic is fairly thick and will not break under normal use. Of course if they get stomped on a concrete floor - that's a different story. 2. My kids really like the variety - 4 different armys in one container. 3. Kids interest - My 3 1/2-year old girl isn't interested. She likes Barbie. My 3 boys (ages 3 1/2, 5, and 10) play with these toys a lot. The 3 1/2 and 5 year old boys play (literally!) for hours setting up battles. My 10-year old boy will even steal a few every now and then for a skirmish here and there. 4. Parent appeal - my wife and I love these toys. No batteries. Durable. Reasonably priced. Easy to store.

History Lessons Come Alive! (and they're fun, too!!)
This bucket contains a LOT of army men. The guys are color coded according to the country they fight for. Dark green is for the USA, tan for the British, navy blue for the Germans, and light green for the Japanese. Each country has multiple different characters, with each also having a few that are exclusive to that country. There is also a flag for each country. These figures have been very helpful with my sons lessons about world war two. He is able to re-enact the battles by positioning the army men on a large floor mat that looks like Europe. This is really making history come alive during our lessons! This set did not include Russia so I will have to find another set in a different color to represent them. We have tried some sets before but the figures seemed to fall over a lot. With this set, though, the figures stand up well. They are also very sturdy. My son stepped on one and, while it hurt, the army man did not break.

A great set of army men - the size matches what ...
A great set of army men - the size matches what I was used to as a kid (I’m 50+) and the detail is better than what I was used to. Well done on uniform/weapon detail – helmets, uniforms, guns, grenades are pretty accurate. The poses and personnel differences between nations amused me, for example: - The Germans have a lot of officers standing ramrod straight with hands behind their backs. A much larger percentage of senior thinkers than the other nations represented here. They look good though! - The Brits have a remarkable number of bagpipe players and, this may alarm British people the world over, a staggeringly high number of guys getting shot. In fact, no other country represented has guys getting wasted, but the English are getting shredded. Yes there are real soldiers delivering the business, but a significant percentage represented here are musicians and patients. - The Japanese are no nonsense – everybody is in kill mode or moving to the front, including the officers with swords waving. - The Americans seem to have about the right mix, although with a lot of bazooka shooters and grenade throwers. Seems like more of an anti-tank force than the others. The men seem a little brittle and some of the gun barrels were bent. But these are quibbles, a great set overall and all the pieces stood up – the most important thing.

Unflinching Troops
While they are labeled action figures, the more accurate term is army men, as that's what they are; an army (of men), ready to be strategically placed and, if your child/opponent has the drive, even wargamed with(see an army men wargaming guide at [...], as the four different colors can represent opposing forces. Each side has its own personality or flavor. There are side specific poses, such as the German with the ammo can to go with the distinct German machine gunner. The bucket contains an ideal balance of poses; you'll get about 3 of each on the average, depicting crawling, manning light machine gun turrets, throwing grenades, generic riflemen, and more. The little guys can put up with most abuse you could think of, besides toying with the microwave. They are constructed of hard plastic that's bendable enough to shape any bent pieces straight but is still surprisingly durable, which means they'll last quite a length, and could, theoretically, be sold as collectibles later on. These are by no means perfect clones(copies of existing army men), however, you could probably only know the difference by examining the recasts closely (original sculpts). Some of their faces are warped, but painting your men should almost completely cover this up, plus that in itself could be a pleasant activity. The ones pictured are probably as absolute as the figures get, so don't expect unfailing uniformity. I personally think their "flaws," which are unnoticeable from a distance, can be used to give them character -- one of the troops had their face horribly disfigured in a smelting accident. There were no broken pieces. You'll be surprised at just how many soldiers you've received when you set them up, it really is an army ready for combat. This is labeled as educational for these figures will stimulate the imagination in both adults and children. Fully recommended for army men enthusiasts and anyone else that's intrigued, five stars.

Wish I had saved mine!
I've been looking for these things for years! I used to buy similar packs of these at the $1 store when I was a kid, (mine were the micro version) and I can't tell you how many hours I spent setting up massive WWII battle fields and knocking them down. The detailed soldiers representing there respective Axis and Allied countries are great and make for much funner and imaginative play than your standard green and tan army men. I'm a bit disappointed that they no longer seem to sell the French, Australian and Russian soldiers, but oh well. These are great fun and I can't wait to give them to my kids.

Great classic sculpts made from cheap plastic
Growing up, my great grandparents had probably 20-30 of the classic pose, green army men. I played with those things all the time and always enjoyed them. Even when there were neater action figures, there was something about these green army men that were just cool to play with. I recently got a wild hair to have some army men like I used to play with at my great grandparents. I started looking and came across these. From the images that were presented, I felt like these were good classic poses and the sculpts looked relatively good in detail, unlike others I have seen. Another real selling point on these was the fact that, being of Scottish descent, I found the sculpt of a kilted bagpiper to be too much to pass up. When the package arrived, I opened it up, excited to see what I had. I was not disappointed in the detail of the sculpts, as they were pretty much on par with those old ones I used to play with. Not great, but better than most others I have seen in recent years. However, I was disappointed with the plastic these were made from. The old ones, you could bend the rifles or bayonets or what have you and they would not snap off. These do. You have to be careful with them, or you will lose the whole end of a rifle, or, to my dismay, the pipes from the bagpiper! This also means, that some of this kind of damage has already occured just by the nature of the packaging. Pros: Good classic poses, good, relatively detailed sculpts Cons: Cheap, cheap plastic that breaks easily

Nice quality, different than you'd find in the store
My 7yo son is obsessed with army men and WWII. He absolutely loves this set! We have purchased all the other cheap army men at other Toys R stores but this by far is his favorite and cost about the same price. The bucket is pretty cheap, but comes with a cardboard divider so you can sort the army men by nationality. The flags are really neat and actually sit in the flag holder (a big deal to an autism spectrum kid who is really concerned with the function of the toy.) I was worried these would be really cheap quality plastic toys, but they are unique and seem to be cast out of plastic pretty well (no sharp plastic remnants, smooth edges, etc.) The younger kid wants his own bucket now. I'd definitely buy these again.
