Hate mini-flashlights that go dim? Love a good bargain?
In selecting this product, I researched the difference between LR44 and 357 batteries, which are the same size and have the same voltage. The difference is that the LR44 is an alkaline (i.e., non-acid) battery, like 80% of the batteries in use in the U.S. It's good and its cheap. The 357 is a silver oxide battery does it one better, maintaining a nearly constant voltage while it discharges until fully depleted. It doesn't dim in a flashlight. It just costs more. Compared to better known brands, Renata 357s costs a little less, especially in quantity. This is my first trial with Renata, but so far, so good!

Reliable brand, *Much better than LR44s*
I have a lot of electronic measuring devices (calipers, etc) that take this size battery. The problem is standard alkaline-cell LR44s last a very short time in them. SR44Ws or 357 cells are silver-oxide batteries, so their discharge curve is much flatter, holding a higher voltage longer than the LR44s. This means they last much longer in my calipers. They cost more than the alkaline cells, but are more than worth it for the longer life and reduced inconvenience of constant battery replacement. That said, I don't trust Chinese-made versions; I've had bad results with some of them. Renata is a Swiss company, and I've found them to be consistently reliable. (Pro tip if you have big bucks: Cheap Chinese calipers, height gauges, etc draw current even when the display is off, so they drain their batteries even if you aren't using them. In contrast, Mitutoyos; actually *are* off when you turn them off so batteries last many, many times longer in them. Unfortunately Mitutoyos cost $125-150 instead of $10-25 per pair, so for most of us constantly buying batteries ends up being the more affordable approach :-/)
