Thank You Sintech For Making This Excellently Esoteric Product
This product is a godsend for anyone that needs it. After days of searching I did not find any other product that does what this does, which is adapt the strange ADATA SSD used in Asus' Ux31a to a standard M.2 SSD. I'm very grateful that this exists or else my Asus Zenbook would be in the trash right now. If your UX31a ADATA drive has failed on you, THIS IS THE FIX, NO QUESTIONS ASKED, THIS IS THE BEST SOLUTION.When the SSD in my Asus UX31a died, I discovered that the particular drive Asus had used in the machine was 1) a unique drive made by ADATA that cannot be replaced by any other standard SSD, and 2) that the original drive Asus used (an ADATA drive) is faulty and many people have had it die on them. Very disappointing for such an expensive machine, and especially disappointing coming from a laptop manufacturer (ASUS) that I tend to trust.I decided to try this Sintech adapter card, as I could not find any other option other than buying another Zenbook specific drive for over $600, and risking that it would also die in a few months time. Aside from it being overpriced, I have a big problem with buying hardware that won't work in ANY other machine. When I received the adapter, it turned out that it only had 1 notch. Most new M.2/NGFF drives have 2 notches, called "M"-Key and "B"-Key. I couldn't find an M.2 with only 1 notch, so I sent an email to Sintech asking them about this. They replied immediately, letting me know that I would be okay to use a 2 notched M.2 SSD even though the adaptor has only one notch.I purchased a standard M.2 2280 drive with 2-notches as they instructed, plugged it into the adapter, and it worked FLAWLESSLY. Windows was installed a few mins later and the machine is up and running like new.Sintech adapter was around $20 and a new M.2 256 GB drive was about $150 = $170 total. Excellent :) The only issue I ran into, was that the screw Sintech provided was not long enough. I ended up not screwing it down at all, and instead using the original piece of rubber/foam that protected the original drive, and just allowing the back of the laptop chassis to hold down the drive. It seems totally secure. I'm sure I could get a longer screw in any PC store, but haven't tried looking as it doesn't seem necessary.Thank you Sintech for making this completely esoteric product, which is a lifesaver to anyone that has had their UX31a harddrive quite on them. Thank you for solving something that is a big problem for a small number of people, thank for making it so inexpensive, and thank you for your fast customer service. Thank you for saving my favorite laptop!

My computer works again ! Many thanks !!!
Merci beaucoup !I repaired my Asus Zenbook UX31 with this component. The installation was easy, but we have put a little protection to avoid contact with the hull, and I installed a 64GB SSD NGFF M.2 instead of the original SSD (not found in France). Delivery lasted 15 days but it was worth the wait. My computer is working again! Thank you very much!

Great solution!
Writing this review as it was hard for me to piece info together on Google when trying to figure out how replace my broken SSD.I have a Asus Zenbook UX31A and this adapter allows you to switch the proprietary Asus SSD with any brand M.2 NGFF SSD.I was not sure if this would work when I purchased the adapter but it works as advertised and could not be easier to install.I used it with a Sandisk X110 M.2 256GB SSD I picked up for $100 on Ebay.Hope this is helpful for people looking to upgrade or replace their broken SSD (apears to a common issue for Zenbook laptop's)

Saved an ASUS UX31 Laptop!!
This literally saved an ASUS UX31 laptop. The idiotic design using non-standard connectors makes SSDs for this model super-expensive and for some reason super likely to fail. After losing the 2nd one, I opted for this, with a standard M.2 SSD. With a little electrical tape applied to the case for insulation in case it touched, it was back on the air in a matter of moments. THANK YOU!!!

The product has a nut for fixing the SSD too ...
The product has a nut for fixing the SSD too thick, preventing its placement in the UX21 model. To use it I had to remove the nut and set the SSD with tape, a fudge that works.

This worked brilliantly with my Asus Zenbook U500VZ (aka UX51VZ)
This worked brilliantly with my Asus Zenbook U500VZ (aka UX51VZ). Replaced the original SSDs (ADATA I think) with a couple 256 GB Kingston SSDs, switched from RAID to AHCI in the BIOS and hey presto... Fully utilized storage space and modern SSDs that alone have pretty much the same performance as those old rotten ones in a RAID0 setup.
